RB#5800: 75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown and hazy with a huge yet slight creamy light tan head. Yeasty and slight roasted caramel malty aroma. Sweet and slight roasted with a mild yeasty and also spiced. Spice note initially show ginger, followed by cinamon and ends with cardemome. Ends mild sweet, yeasty and spiced. Nice.

Bottle. Poured a deep brown body with thin head. aroma is light spices, bubblegum. Flavor is light spices - bubblegum, cloves, herbs and cinnamon.

Brown with a huge tan head. Spicy earthy nose. Nice caramelly taste with some dark fruit and molasses on the finish. Signature Unibroue yeast is prevalent. Enjoyable.

Bouteille 750ml. De couleur brune foncée et voilée. Nez d’épices (anis, clou de girofle, léger de muscade, notes de cannelle, de poivre et de coriandre), de levures fruitées (prunes, notes de pommes rouges), malté caramel et de sucre brun, moyen de houblon herbeux (herbes fraîches) aux notes florales ainsi que léger d’alcool et avec des notes de tabac. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture moyennement crémeuse. Goût assez épicé (clou de girofle, moyen de muscade, léger d’anis et notes de cannelle et de gingembre) accompagné d’un goût de levures fruitées (prunes, notes de dates, traces de raisins vineux) ainsi que defaibles notes de tabac et de vanille lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté aux petites notes rôties (faibles notes brûlées), un goût de sucre brun ainsi qu’un léger goût de caramel toffee terreux et des notes de pain. Parallèlement, l’on retrouve un moyen goût d’alcool réchauffant (notes vineuses) jusqu’en finale, où l’on retrouve également un goût épicé asséchant (poivre doux) ainsi qu’une moyenne amertume de houblon herbeux et des traces de noix et boisées. Post-goût moyen-long et un peu sec, moyennement amer de houblon herbeux, d’alcool doux (notes de fût de chêne) et de levures fruitées (moût de prunes et de raisins, notes de dates).

Hit the six month rule. And it was opened. Too much cola and carbonation. Another Unibroue special release that is too much cola in taste. The brewery’s glory days may be fading as its beers are not rising up to the challenge of staying fresh and interesting.

Cloudy, almost murky warm brown with frothy, aerated tan head. Smells spicy and not as yeasty as expected. Nice array of spices like star anise, clove, brown sugar, mincemeat, cinnamon, vanilla. Savory, not sweet aroma. Almost food-like with hints of laurel and sage. Excellent body. A real departure from the expected flavors and mouthfeel of the brewery. Relatively low carbonation, quaffable body belies its strength like a good Trappist. Totally reminiscent of Trappist delights, filled with mincemeat complexity and smooth as pie. Spicy aromatic, flavors ranging from garden herbs like thyme and basil to Asian spice arrays. Later on, roasted chocolate with cinnamon emerge more. An exceptional brew from an exceptional brewery.

Poured a hazy dark brown with a hint of ruby highlights. Dark flavors dominate. Malt, fruit, caramel and spice. Also a touch of sweetness. Excellent mouthfeel. I really liked this one.

Dirty earthy dark brown with a finger of light tan head that recedes quickly. Large pockets of air merge and burst leaving trails of lacing on the glass. Light pruny sweet aroma and booze. Taste is strong plums, alcohol and a light carbonation that joins with a biting spiciness. Some cloves and plums hang around in the finish while everything else diminishes much more quickly. A very nice beer.
