Giant fluffy white head, with a huge amount of lacing. Very spicy nose, fig, a hot cinnamon presence, yeast, and has a nice Christmas feeling. Spicy flavors, brown sugar, banana, molasses, some coriander, wheat and a nice hoppiness in the finish. Complex, fairly drinkable. Mouthfeel is tangy and spicy, and the ABV is very well hidden. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 13, 2008 A really nice, big fluffy head on the pour into a tulip glass. Smells of Belgian sugars, nuts and a caramel like smell. A smooth taste but you can pick up a bit of the alcohol. As it warms this beer gets better and better. the 10% hits you after the bottle but the taste of alcohol really mellows over time. It is sweet, rich and a tasty beer. oteyj (757), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 12, 2008 Pours dark ruby brown with two finger white head. Nose is of spice and molasses- lots of sweetness in the form of fruit and malt. Flavor is yeasty with fruity esters, citrus, and molasses. Prickly and full mouthfeel, but nothing outstanding. Another bread and butter belgian from unibroue. Jblauvs (574), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2008 pours a dark brown with a boisterous head. definitely a unibroue aroma, but darker than most- dates, molasses, plum, walnut- interesting offering in that respect. relaly deliicious flavor- maintains the darker aspect of unibroue. really tasty. jhumphries69 (726), Tyrone, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2008 750ml caged&corked bottle. Pours a dark brown with ruby (almost violet) and dark copper highlights and a thick, short-lived, light tan head that consists of medium-large bubbles and leaves thick and thin swaths and fingers of lace on the glass. The aroma has hints of spice with interesting phenols with pepper and anise - almost minty, too. Flavor is very peppery and bitter with ethanol. There is some light sweetness and a musty character, too. Towards mid-tongue the malt character reveals toasted malts and hints of toffee with some complex, fruity esters and more musty, peppery phenols. The finish is dry with spice and complex malts that have toasty and burnt qualities along with caramel and tobacco. The mouthfeel is vigorously carbonated and provide a tickle that accentuates the spiciness and flavor of alcohol. The body is medium in fullness. Overall, a complex beer that is pleasing but less sublime than previous anniversary beers from Unibroue. It is very nice and interestingly spicy. JohnnyJ (1312), Carlsbad, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2008 Pours a hazy dark brown with large tan head. Dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar, raisin, honey, banana, hints of oak and clove, also some citrus. A really good ale, well worth getting. tennisjoel (941), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2008 Muddy brown pour with a creamy lasting head. Scents of cocoa, honey, cinnamon, banana, clove, and vanilla. A little over carbonated at colder temperatures, but this mellows as the beers warms. So what I’m saying is to drink this at a warmer temp, which is pretty much my philosophy with belgian strong ales in general. Unibroue seems to make a lot of beers that taste similar to each other, and this one fits that mold. It isn’t unique by any means, but it is a good beer nonetheless.
