Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 750 ml caged corked bottle. Dark amber pour with a sticky off-white head - leaves nice clingy lacing. Sweet aroma with hints of cherries, bourbon, some faint spices. Flavor is similarly sweet with some hints of cherry, faint maple syrup, Christmas spices, licorice and a touch of chewing tobacco. Mouthfeel is thick, creamy and rich. Not much different than other Unibroue’s other anniversary offerings - nothing really jumps out as unique.

6-1-08 bottle shared at tasting
Black brown pour with super ivory beige head. Smell is funk and yeast and dough and malt. Flavor is funk and yeast and dough and malt and caramel and a touch of alcohol. Thin and off carbonation but not dreadful at all.

pours a big, creamyy beige head atop a chocolately brown body. Smell is raisiny with rich belgian yeastiness and malt. Very quad like. Some cigar like scents. Taste is smooth, raisins, light alcohol, caramel, and spice. Slightly thin, but decent and drinkable.

A deep amber to brown color with a large carbonated head. The aroma contains some chocolate, bananas, and spices. The flavor is rather malty with some bananas, chocolate, spices, and cloves. Overall Ive never been blown away by Uni anniversary beers but this one will do.

Bottle at Mondial 2008
Appearance: Dark brown , murky haze with medium large tanned top.
Nose Aromatic , alcohol spray on fruit essence , light hint of vanilla flower. Warm brown malts.
Flavor/Palate : Medium full bodied. Sourness paired with green raw hops. Mid palate consisted of sour fruitiness heated on alcohol. On top you will notice light vanilla-fruit touches. Quiet complex, I give that but this was not my favorite. I prefer 16 much more to 17.

Sampled at Pints for Pets. A deep brown color with a small foamy off-white head. The aroma is extremely oaky with some bourbon and brown sugar maltiness. The flavor has a little fruit in it but the oak is overwhelming. There is a good roasted burnt flavor. A little coffee, but sweet and fruity as well. A nice body with a huge amount of carbonation. A pretty dry finish. I think this will be really great with some age on it.

Dark amber in colour with spritzy carbonation. Loads of complex aromatics here: notes of dark malts, banana, vanilla, peppery yeast, and a hint of gum drops. Malty and fruity elements are strong upfront in the mouth with more malt, vanilla, and banana, along with nuances of orange. Some herbs and woodiness help to dry things out on the finish, along with a hint of citric acidity. The spices really show on the end too. A bit boozy, but not overly so for a 10% beer. Moderate length to the finish. Definitely above average for the style, but not mind blowing.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, opaque with a big off-white bubbly head. Laces nicely. Spicy yeast nose with mild sweetness, darker fruits. Flavor is very sweet and has a touch of alcohol. Cloying and fusely. Palate is nice but it’s still kind of hard to get down.
