Not to take anything away from it, but I’m not a huge fan. It’s aroma is full of dark fruits, spice, and certainly lots of alcohol. The appearance is a gorgeous fluff-white head on a very dark ruby body. Exceptional lacing. The flavor is full, a bit much. The dark fruits, spices, and alcohol become a bit to strong for me. The balance of this with the alcohol burns, makes for a really, really slow drink. A one and done for me. Although it left me feeling quite knackered.

Bottle shared with Steve and Eric. Interesting beer. Somewhat sour aroma and flavor. Tastes of year old lemons and apricots (in a good way). Finishes nicely with the Belgian funk.

I tasted that one over a year ago, the first time I saw it, and I have been quite disappointed. Too fizzy, not very balanced, more displeasingly sour than sweet or bitter. But a year has passed, the economy has been ruined, but this beer developped interesting spicy and alchool aroma and layers of complex flavors pretty hard to describe (notes of brown sugar, dates, many spices, orange, typical Unibroue yeast) but the bitterness comes much after, quite strongly. But how will it age? This is a hell of a mystery beer to me. I like that, but it is very spicy which I like less.

Bottled from Systembolaget. Vintage app. 2006. Dark brown with a huge, tan head. Yeasty and sourish aroma; coriander and chlorine. Soft and smooth palate. Fruity and yeasty with tangerine and apricots.

pours with a stable cream head .. . musty cherry, tobacco, jam, alcohol and basement flavours, also similar in the nose .. . slightly sour slightly sweet, nice link up .. . good but seems less than last 2 years .. abv is fairly well hidden too .. . wwf: pandas that wrestle ... ..

Oooh la la. This is one of the best Unibroue’s i have ever had. Its so smooth, so full of flavor. As always, lots of rich malts. Pours dark, lots of head that slowly goes down. Great.

hazed cocoa maroon body with a hell of a head. on it. love the nose on this thingherbal sweet fruits and a vanilla scent. damn this tastes even better. everything the nose [romised and more. great full mouth feel, i don’t know if it is because i’m so f’ng stoned or if the beer is this f’ing good?the light banana yeast notes are rich and just end this beer amazingly well. plum deep caramel almost chocol;ate notes. just a bit of peach sweetness and lingering sugariness. this is a joy to drink. of course the red chili soy ginger chicken and rice i just had with this may have played a part too. 3 10 10 5 20 rerate: yes i was that stoned, and yes the beer was that good.

If it wasn’t so sugary, I’d love it: cloudy, dark brown body with average head and lacing; sweet and lightly spiced aroma and flavor with a great blend among bitter, salt, and sour; good, but could do without the obvious sugariness.
