Pours a deep mahogany with an off-white head that hangs around the edges, light lacing. Rich and layered aromas that start with dark fruits, currant a bit of dates. Clove is prominent, lending a bready air, along with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Ends with the faintest whiff of caramel and dark chocolate. Smooth and lavish on the tongue with light carbonation. Full-bodied but not overpowering. Very little alcohol taste given the ABV, and overall it reminds me of a barleywine. Very good brew.

2011 bottle. Once I wrestled the cork out of the bottle this poured amber brown with a clingy beige head. Aroma is heavy on the clove, with banana, fig, raisins. Flavor follows nose, with a bit of caramel. Dry oaky finish.

Unibroue is one of my favorite breweries. This is a great belgian dark ale. Lots of plums, bananas, and caramel in the aroma. Neatly balanced, nice oaky taste.

Purchased from the LCBO. Unibroue is one of the best breweries out there and 17 is one of their best brews.

I really enjoyed this beer. Couple things i noticed, i was burping a lot, and there was a film on my tongue that was weird after drinking. All that aside, the flavor was great.

I thought this was a very good beer. Nothing outstanding about it, just a well rounded good Belgian beer.
