Pours like a cola in color, fizzy tan head, steadily rising bubbles.
Smells like a cola with notes of musty old bread and caramel.
Flavor is deceptively sweet, hiding a good alcohol kick at 10%. The booze comes through, but subtly and pleasantly. Hops are there under notes of sweet dry fruits.
Full body, lively carbonation.
Quite nice.

Absolutely delicious. One of the best beers I’ve ever had. Murky brown color w off white head. Not much on the smell. The flavors are a complex blend of dark fruit, clove, cola and tobacco. The aftertaste is a warm reminder of what just happened. That warmth is the only warning you have as to how important it is not to drive after drinking this gift from the beer gods.

Pours a nice auburn color with a sturdy foamy head. The nose is a beautiful blend of toffee, caramel, vanilla, and just a touch of banana. The taste starts with tobacco, maple, vanilla, and brown sugar, with just a bit of cocoa. In the middle there’s a dramatic shift with cherry tannins, plums, pepper and clove. The tannins carry thought to the finish, though the sweetness from the front end lingers underneath.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty spicy caramel aroma with weak yeasty hints. Fruity malty spicy yeasty flavor with hints of caramel. Has a fruity malty spicy yeasty finish with hints of caramel.

Pours hazy brown with creamy off-white head that gives way after a few minutes. Aroma is Belgian yeast, champagne, apple and alcohol. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Excellent flavor with notes of Belgian yeast, spice and wood. Not a trace of its 10% ABV. Another winner from Unibroue.

750ml bottle, shared by a Ratebeerian whose name I don’t remember at DLD 2013 (thank you, though). Hazy red / brown color. Minimal off-white head. Little loose lace. Some dark fruit, berry, belgian candy sugar, chocolate. Soft smooth carbonation, dry texture. Spicy hop. Solid belgian strong.

Ambrée d’apparence trouble, sa mousse volumineuse se résorbe lentement en tricotant une belle dentelle sur son passage. Les épices nous emplissent les narines de leurs arômes. La cannelle, le clou de girofle, l’anis et la coriandre entre autres, se signalent d’avantage. Le goût est mené par les mêmes épices, avec des bulles bien présentes, au travers des saveurs boisées. Une franche amertume et un apport sec en bouche, réussissent à tracer une finale longue et soutenue. (No 2012-53360) (578-190313)
