BMan1113VR (2755), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Apr 20, 2009 Bottle marked best before 08.06.10, and I think from the date stamp that it is a 2006 bottle. Pours with a slightly hazed (pretty clear for a wit) gold body with a rocky white head that slowly descends to nothing above it. Aroma of coriander, honey, fennel, florals and Unibroue house yeast. Taste is Unibroue house yeast, coriander, celery and biscuit. Fizzy and dryish mouthfeel. JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Apr 19, 2009 Sample at the Unibroue tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 4.10.09. Semi-opaque gold color with a big white head. Yeasty aroma that is a bit tart and just a touch of hops. Yeasty flavor with a sweet and sour malty finish. Mouthfeel is heavily carbonated. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Apr 17, 2009 wheat body somewhat sweet with typical Belgian spice. a touch of grit not easily noticeable and is superimposed by a certain light creaminess. a bit of a lemony and orange light citrus taste that is enjoyable. a summery brew with a white head and complementary light banana taste. good. Davros (200), Australia Apr 17, 2009 Darker than I’d expect for a wit, almost amber, but a nice inch high head.
Typical wit aroma. Wheaty, coriander quite dominant, orange peel to a lesser extent.
Citrus comes into play upon tasting, coriander is as active as ever. Wheat kicks in a bit later, followed by a moderate bitterness. Pretty much what you’d expect, but nothing interesting.
Watery (expected), but too much carbonation. Moggman (187), Columbus, Ohio, USA Apr 15, 2009 Bottle. Pours golden with a white head. Lighy bodied with sweet malty flavors, and hints of belgian yeast notes. This would be pretty good as a summer beer. Also pairs well with OJ for a "beermosa" savnac (394), Palmer, Alaska, USA Apr 10, 2009 750ml corked. Spicy, yeasty, light malt aroma. Clear yellow with a very small white head. Sour yeast taste cut with a sweet malt flavor. Medium/Light bodied with a thin creamy mouth feel, lively carbonated. This is a nice Wit that is crisp and refreshing. j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Apr 8, 2009 Corked 750 from the Dépanneur down the street from the hotel. Pours an almost opaque yellow with a medium to large fluffy white head. Nice wheat and yeast on the nose, with a bit of funk to it. Thin bodied, and wheaty. Crisp light finish. Decent easy drinking wit. CheersMate1 (766), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 4, 2009 Not a bad beer. Head fades away rather quickly. Nize hage orange appearance. Decent palate. Nice yeast flavor. Favors the yeast, that is a definite. Slight banana flavor. Definitely a decent witbier. Slight yeast aroma, but not very pungent. Overall, a great yeast flavor. Not a very pungent aroma, and a decent palate. Try it once and move on.
