Bubbly and champagne like body. Yeast and corainder along with other spices in the taste. gringo332 (235), Richardson, Texas, USA Jun 25, 2008 Nothing special, but not bad either. I was a bit let down because Unibroue has such good beer. But for the money this one doesn’t hit the spot. basewars (144), Albany, New York, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle at Mahars in Albany. Pours a clear yellow with two finger head. Sweet smell of citrus and yeast, but not very powerful. Taste is lagging. Nothing special, but not bad either. daniele (1635), Italy Jun 21, 2008 chiara schiuma media mediamente persistente note speziate lievi ed agrumate in bocca fesca speziata lieve leggermente agrumata non intensa cdog3 (3), USA does not count Jun 20, 2008 Tasted on tap at Beachtree Grill in Poughkeepsie NY.
Poured a cloudy light straw color with a fine white head that disapated quickly to a ring of Belgium lace around the edge. Obviously effervescent.
Nice citrusy aroma with hints of corriander and clove with faint whiffs of spicy wheat malt aroma.
Flavor hits you with a malty sweet citrusy burst of refreshing flavor that has overtones of corriander and clove. Little to no hop charecter to speak of as expected. The finish is on the dry side and has a quite pronounced Clove aftertaste that I think is slightly out of balance.
This is a great beer that I can drink plenty of, hopefully on a deck over looking the ocean or lake, on a hot summer day. A very good example of the style. hiphop (84), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 18, 2008 Soft golden yellow, white fluffy head. One of the best takes on the Belgian White style I have ever had. It’s actually the first beer that introduced me to the world of good, craft beer a year and a half ago. Floback (333), Naples, Florida, USA Jun 10, 2008 12 ounce bottle from Total Wine. Pours an orange/gold color with subtle lacing and minimal white head. Nose is very subtle yeast and grains. Flavors are the same with cream-of-wheat and melon added. Finishes super dry, almost cloyingly dry. Most Witbiers are incredibly refreshing, but this actually made me even more thirsty. Light bodied and ultra-carbonated. This would be better if it wasn’t so dry and carbonated; seems off-balance to me. The carbonation affected the flavor as well, creating an almost soda water/seltzer-like quality.
