mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA May 10, 2008 Pours a hazy gold color with a thick, foamy pearly white head. Smells pretty sweet, sticky, and fruity, with a light wheat presence and a good dose of orange peel. Pretty heavily carbonated with that Unibroue yeast flavor, mixed with orange citrus, mild spices, and wheat characters. Pretty refreshing brew on a hot day, but perhaps a bit overcarbonated. Has some pretty good flavor, but I think tends to be more of a Belgian ale that witbier. The wheat presence was overmatched by the Belgian yeast presence in my opinion. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA May 9, 2008 Poured from 12oz bottle an orangy blonde with large creamy white head. Aromas of citrusy corriander, wheat, and maybe a little banana. Flavor is citrus, corriander, malt sweetness, soft banana and clove, and a little yeasty tartness. There is plenty of spice in this one with a nice carbonation zing that is very refreshing. This is a good warm weather and food beer. texasbartender (160), Sugarland, Texas, USA May 8, 2008 The beer pours A hazy pale yellow with a thin white head that leaves very fast the nose is strait Belgium with a lot of citrus notes mixed with coriander. The nose and the flavor is are one and the same however the taste is much lighter then I thought it would be. It is a well done wit but nothing very special. GoLdFiNgEr (83), La Pocatière, Quebec, Canada May 7, 2008 Blanche trouble à 5% avec arôme d’orange te de citron avec un éger goût de coriande. Très grande gazéification. Blanche de style belge. DubC5000 (195), San Diego, California, USA May 6, 2008 Tasty. Pale translucent gold in color, spicy and fruity aroma. Strong flavors of wheat, coriander, pear, and lemon rind. Slight yeasty flavor. Viper666 (613), Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada Apr 30, 2008 outeille 750ml.
shalloWMeans (160), Independence, Kentucky, USA Apr 30, 2008 Updated: Sep 1, 2008First sample at the Unibroue beer tasting at Jungle Jims, featuring Rick Swarez from the brewery. This was an awesome beer tasting with a really great crowd, great breads and cheeses, and great speakers. The Blanche de Chambly was a perfect way to start the night with something light and refreshing to kickstart our tastebuds. It was hazy, pale gold with a gentle head and stunning shine. Very effervescent and champagnelike. Fun and lively. The aroma is fresh and spicy, citrussy and yeasty with sweet cloves, apples, pears, and a hint of phenolic bubblegum. The taste is enlivening, bright, cheerful, and very thirst quenching. Again, cloves, bananas, lemon zest, cinammon and nutmeg make their appearance. Well-rounded, medium-bodied and perfectly soft and silky on the palate, with a tickling effervescent tang. This is a perfect summertime refresher, and I enjoy pairing it with different cheeses and spicy seafood, which it takes the hot edge off of with ease. Nice.
mikey (336), farmington, Utah, USA Apr 30, 2008 Poured a hazy, very light yellow. The head was small and fast fading, leaving a film of white foam. The nose was strong with citrus and clove. The taste was full and slightly tart. Citrus and malt dominate up front with banana, spices, and hints of lemon coming throgh in the end. There is no hop bitterness at all that i can detect. The finish was slightly yeasty. This beer was a little over carbonated, but not so bad that it detracted from the flavor. It goes down smooth leaving a clovey aftertaste. A very interesting wit, fairly well represented of the style.
