4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Part of a Unibroue Christmas Sampler
Smells a little sweet with a sour note.
Pours a cloudy gold colour with flecks of sediment stuck to the sides of the glass.
Taste is as a golden Beligian Ale should be. A little sweet.
Good amount of carbonation. Goes down smooth with no aftertaste.
Overall I was very happy with this beer. Will purchase again on its own.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours cloudy yellow gold with medium white head that leaves some lacing and minor skim.
Aroma suggests a standard witbier with somewhat subdued banana and spice along with the wheat, but there’s also a whiff of orange.
That becomes more prominent on the palate, balanced by a very well-judged amount of coriander and a small spark of lemon. As it warms, the initial fruitiness adds honey, bread, white pepper in a sophisticated blend.
The lively but not prickly carbonation and medium body become Unibroue’s trademark creaminess, an ideal mouthfeel. The finish is dry and very clean. Nice 5 percent ABV further encourages another round.
At any other North American brewer, this would be the flagship beer, but at Unibroue it’s just another soldier, an undemonstrative, reasonably priced, great beer.

2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz bottle. Pours hazy golden with a foamy white head. Lots of carbonation bubbles. Aroma is of wheat, spice, sugar, banana. Taste is of wheat, spice, and a little sugar. The taste is definitely muted compared to the aroma. Tastes pretty bland overall. Mouthfeel is light, and heavily carbonated. Body is light with lots of carbonation. I didn’t get very much out of it.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a golden what colour with a thick white head. The body is heavily carbonated and gives off a sweet, candy-like aroma. The beer is mostly sweet with backbone that is a mix of savoury and astringent/bitter. Best served cold if you want more of a fruity tone and warm for a more wheaty syrupy vibe.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Harvest Market, Bedford NH. Aroma is Belgian yeast, biscuit. Appearance is cloudy yellow, suited to the style, with nice sparkle and 2 finger-width foamy white head that dissipates pretty quickly with lacing that is ephemeral. Taste is initial sweet citrusy fruit followed by dominant sour. Palate is medium bodied with thin texture and overly fizzy carbonation (a recurring theme I am finding with this brewer) with foamy finish. Overall, a pretty straightforward witbier with some nice features but nothing spectacular.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
0.341 bottle. Hazy, yellow color and a large, white head. Aroma of bananas, coriander, spices, citruses, wheat, and some hops. Taste is obviously sweet, full of banana, citruses, and spices - quite usual for the style though of relatively good quality. Medium body, slick texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is splendid: it’s a great combination of typical wheat character with an amalgam of spice-related flavors usually seen in Belgian abbey ales. Overall a pretty nice beer, its mediocre score seems hard to explain.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sample pour from the bottle. Pours a bright yellow, slight haze, foamy white head. Aromas of grass, hay, citrus. Flavor follows the nose, some lemon, a bit funky. Not my favorite style, but decent. Light body, thin texture, lively carbonation. Dry on the finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a hazy pale golden color, topped with a decent white soapy head, retention is average. Pleasant citrusy aroma with quite some nice spices, a bit wheaty as well. Taste is sweet and wheaty at first with more stress on soury citrusy feel, some spices. Very nice and refreshing.
