After all these years, this beer still holds up as one of my favorites !! hazy straw color. the head foams to different levels depending on the batch this beer is a bit different from a batch to another and that is what I love about it. the right mix between citrus and spices, it brings you on a trip ! cheers!

DATE TASTED: October 19, 2013 ... GLASSWARE: Blanche de Chambly flute... OCCASION: trying to liquidate the summer stash before the fall season is unmistakable... APPEARANCE: faint, tepid hay-tinted body with champagne bubble and pencil-thin off-white head; no lacing... AROMA: beautiful wheat/clove connection reminiscent of summer; light banana dough and vanilla cream are latent scents... PALATE: fizzy, active and light-bodied; drinkable and refreshing...TASTE: lightly affected, acidic wheat that maintains its nasal promise--a spiced, seasoned flavor...OVERALL: What doesn’t Unibroue produce that doesn’t sing or sparkle? The "lightweight" of the case that nonetheless packs a pleasurable experience, crisp and aromatic ...

The witbier offering from my favorite Canadian brewery pours a nice murky burnt apple juice gold, with a ton of white head. An aggressive pour might leave cakes of yeast swimming in your glass, but it makes little sense to pour this beer like a sissy. You want the froth effect, trust me. Aroma is bready malt, citrus, spice, a touch of herbs. Palate is a bouquet of the expected coriander, citrus pith and fruit (orange, lemon, a bit of tropical pineapple which combines with a creamy mouth feel to produce a bit of a pina colada effect). Refreshing but not boring, finish is sweet and herbal, with a lingering yeasty sweetness almost like caramel corn. Almost no detectable alcohol or technical flaws I can pick out. Carbonation is lively and right where it needs to be to lift the fruit and spice. An archetypal Belgian witbier and I echo the other reviewers who feel this is the standard to which others should be compared. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A: Hazy Golden Straw and Lemony Hue, Passes Through Some Light, Great Thick White Head, Some Lacing (constant bubbles from the bottom of beer) S: Lemongrass, Pineapple, Bubble Gum T: Lemons, Oranges, Pineapple, Yeasty M: Great Carbonation, Light to Medium Bodied, Mildly Bitter, Mildly Cloying Overall, a solid white ale that maintains really good carbonation throughout the beer. Very Drinkable. Recommended.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2013 Pours a light straw color, hazy with a cottony head of white foam. The nose took quite a while to develop. It was faint to begin with then it gained some tart citrus, apple and a spice. The yeast wasn’t that funky on the nose and the malt was a light sweetness. There was a nice fresh orange peel and wheat. The whisper of banana and clove and maybe some coriander. As it warmed it developed a stone fruit juicy scent that was very enticing. Taste is bland and a bit plain. The malt was a light cracker on the palate. The tart citrus was very strong. The spice competed for the palate and won out over any sweet fruit. The wheat imparted dryness and it was as dry as champagne. I liked that. It lacked flavor. The banana could have been more prominent and imparted a creaminess to the flavor. The clove could have added depth. The carbonation is the lions share of the mouthfeel and except for it this beer is thin.

Really drinkable and spicy wit. Tons of clove, cardomon type flavors with little of that banana ester type flavors. Overall fizzy spritzy and tasty.

Nice and clean, wheaty and heavy on the coriander, I like it, very light on the fruits

Bottle cloudy light yellow. Nose tart fruit, white wine, clove, spice. Taste belgian spiciness up front, citrus fruit then some candi sugar. Fizzy mouthfeel. Bitter and spicy finish, more toward bitter. All in all enjoyable and easy to drink.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Total Wine Sterling. It pours a cloudy gold color with plenty of yeast floating around a fleeting white head. The nose has notes of yeast, clove, straw, and lemon. Nice citrusy twang on the tongue. Light yeast, pale malt, and straw as well. The finish is yeasty and a little chalky. Light in body. Fairly solid flavor all the way around.
