mgermani (862), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 4, 2006 Updated: Mar 12, 2007Aroma very sweet - spices reminded me of Hoegaarden, but just a bit sweeter. Poured a dull pear-like gold, very small head, no lace. Soapy taste, very light wheat malting and a lot of yeast. Pleasant pear taste. Hops seemingly absent, or at least too much like citrus to be conspicuous, but not out-of-character for a wit. Mouthfeel slightly over-carbonated. Overall, a drinkable beer, but it could use a little more time "on lees", or at least a little more maturation in general.
Update: Another bottle, great head this time. emjay (30), Markham, Ontario, Canada Oct 30, 2006 Bottle. Poured a soft yellow color with a giant head. Tastes of light and tangy fruits. A decent brew, but Unibroue makes far better ones. jzzbassman (838), New Albany, Mississippi, USA Oct 26, 2006 Poured a nice cloudy gold with floaties and a nice fizzy head. Earthy aroma. Flavor is somewhat soapy and restrained, but has a bit of orange and yeast that is pleasant. jujubeast6000 (772), Houston, Texas, USA Oct 24, 2006 12oz bottle: Pours a semi-cloudy, sedimentary light yellow color. Huge head, somewhat lasting, good lacing, smallish bubbles. White aroma, some hops, sugary, pear, apple, spices. Nice moathfeel, warm, clean finish. Taste of ligut pear, apple, fizzy, light. Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Oct 22, 2006 NYC Brewtopia. straw-yellow gold body with a creamy white head. smells of orange peel and coriander. Tastes of orange with some spicy and citrus hops. bitterness throughout. some lemon, yeast, and apples. refreshing. overal sweet with a light citrus taste. hophead75 (1945), Boonton, New Jersey, USA Oct 22, 2006 brewtopia 10/21/06. Very hazy golden with a big frothy head. Aroma is very yeasty, bready, and spicy. Taste is earthy and bready yeast, spicy, with light fruits. Refreshing. wraith (12), Australia Oct 21, 2006 virtually no head, very little lacing, murky yellow/brown colour with that distinctive cloudy/whitish tinge you would expect from a wit. fresh aroma, citrusy, yeasty, fizzy on the tongue, light body, even a little watery, but not a bad beer, would be very refreshing in warmer weather I would imagine, but if you buy it looking for something special, you’ll be disappointed and if you have never tried a wit and want to try one try a hoegarden first LyndaNova (492), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 20, 2006 Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a cloudy pale yellow color with a thin layer of ivory bubbles. Aroma and taste are of bread, pear, lemon coriander, and alcohol. Well carbonated. Short ending is lightly sweet and dry.
