Unibroue Blanche de Chambly

750. Pours sherbet-y orange/amber with a thick bubbly white head; touches of mousse in the head but mostly little spider-egg bubbles. Mild, pear-like, slightly dusty/flowery nose. Nice low-medium body with fizzy carb. Pear, green apple, a bit of light white nut, and splashes of wild yeast (without funk, but still there) through the palate. Clean, easy-drinking, essentially free of finish. One of the better inoffensive beers I’ve had.

On tap: 3Floyds... Yeastynose...fruity and prominent citrus zest. Chewy wheat mouthfeel. Fairly sweet citrus flavor with some apricot, cloves, and coriander lurking in the background. Decent brew.

12 ounce bottle poured in my Duvel glass. Hazy yellow-orange (peach or apricot nectar) color. Fizzy white mostly disapating head. Spicy aroma of coriander, grans of paradise, and orange peel. Some citrus notes work through. It certainly has the Unibroue yeast character in the flavor. Some lime and spice. Spritzy carbonation on the palate. Finishes kind of dry. I guess its ok for a wit.

12 oz bottle. Hazy pale yellow color with a foamy head. Aroma is citrus, banana, pear and yeast. Smell and taste reminds me of Champage. I don’t know why so many of the Unibroue brews are so overly carbonated. It’s OK, but I’d much rather have an Allagash White or Hoegarden.

Lemon zest, orange blossom and lavender flower nose with a bit of banana and grains of paradise. Soft satifsying mouthfeel with a spritzy character. A wonderful example of the style.

750 ml bottle. Citrus and doughy aromas. Color is pale yellow and cloudy with a very thin bubbly head. Mouthfeel is fizzy like champagne with a slightly dry thin aftertaste. Good overall. Flavor is light with very little alcohol present.

750 ml corked bottle. Hazy pale yellow with a massive white head. Subtle aroma of citrus wheat and yeast. Taste is Citrusy, some spices, dough and malt. Medium body, on the watery side.
