Cirrhosis (607), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 11, 2009 Can’t believe it I found this on tap in Edmonton it’s a Christmas miracle. Tall fluffy cap with stupid retention and walls upon walls of sticky lacing, the body is a cloudy yellow beige this beer looks so yummy. Aroma is also very nice, Lipton raspberry iced tea, lemon, tons of wheat and a mild spice finish this is by far the best smelling witbier I’ve come across. At this point my review is disrupted by an old drunk lady trying to stick her foot on my shoulder to show us how much she can stretch what is getting beercronic way to excited to continue his review. Beercronic has now returned from the can and the old drunk lady has a giant smile on her face. But I digress the brew taste is awesome loads of apricot, raspberry, perfume mild spice all balanced with a creamy wheat base that goes down extremely smooth. Cloves show up in the finish and the after taste reminds me of custard. The mouth feel was pleasant and not overly carbonated. This destroys Hoegaarden not even close the quality of this brew is phenomenal. I can’t wait to see if any more Unibroue makes it to Edmonton on tap. demdeac40 (238), Etowah, North Carolina, USA Jun 8, 2009 Pours a light golden straw color with a huge foamy white head and great carbonation. Nose is all lemony citrus and spice. Flavor is tart citrus and a slight sweetness in the back. Really clean but kind of lackluster. Promises more on the nose than what is delivered. Good summer Wheat. patricks110 (275), Alberta, Canada Jun 7, 2009 A pretty good beer. I like Maudite, ZTrois Pistoles, La Fin du Monde, etc more than this beer however. Aroma of lemon, fruits, coriander. Taste is slightly bitter and tart, fruity and citrussy. Very bland compared to the other Unibroue beers. BigBeer45 (674), Troy, Michigan, USA Jun 6, 2009 The pour is mostly clear (very faint haze in there) pale gold with medium effervescence, gave a one finger high white head, aroma of lemon, lemon citrus and pear, wheat, faint sweetness, flavor of lemon, wheat and some citrus, sort of simple and non-entertaining, not much tartness in this drink compared to other Wits I have had, hardly any bite, pepper or significant touch to the finish, sort of just slips away at the finish, disappointing, mouth feel is light and thin, the effervescence is visible in the glass but is flat on the palate, aroma and flavor is bland, if I did not know better, I would say this bottle was past due but not according to the ‘Best By 4-29-10’ date posted on the bottle, I am surprised Unibroue makes a beer that is this plain, I enjoy their other beers much more than this. Cavie (1300), Fort Worth, Texas, USA May 22, 2009 Clear yellow. Belgian aroma. Slightly sweet taste. Dry finish. Not bad, could use more flavor up front though. Berley31 (107), New Brunswick, Canada May 17, 2009 Updated: Jun 28, 2009Bottle. Pours with an average-sized white head, that lasts for a little while. Color is dark yellow, with cloudiness throughout and good lacing. Aroma is citrusy, as expected (orange especially), with light yeast. Medium body on the palate, with average carbonation and a slightly bitter finish. Tasty flavor with average duration, moderate acidity, and lightly bitter. Good price, would definitely drink again... one of the better Belgian whites I’ve had in a while. KyotoLefty (1370), Kyoto, Japan May 16, 2009 Deep yellow, with orange. Medium white head, long lasting. Aroma of wheat malt, spices, orange. Dry, somewhat tangy malt flavor. Light spicing, good mix of rich malt, sour, and sweet. Light and refreshing. Dryish finish. Very nice wit. Light and clean but tasty. Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada May 11, 2009 341 mL Bottle. Pale cloudy orange body with a fizzy, fast-disappearing head that vanishes like a Houdini act. Aroma is wheat and grains, yeast, banana, pineapple, grapefruit, apricot, and cloves. Flavor is wheat and grains with a light note of celery leaf. Pineapple and grapefruit rind express in the aftertaste. The finish has a tartness to it. Points lost for lack of any head / lacing but looks can deceive.
