kepano (239), Meudon, France Dec 3, 2005 Unibroue is rapidly becoming a good friend of mine, and with the waning number of high-raters I have yet to taste, I am beginning to move down the list to their mid-range productions. I was excited to try Blanche de Chambly since witbiers are one of my favorite "easy drinking" styles - especially tasty with food. It poured a cloudy pale straw color with a frothy white head, nothing terribly exciting but on par with most brews of the style. The nose is light and exotic with notes of soft orange, pineapple and mango balanced by the typical yeast and wheat aromas. Sweet citrus is prominent in the flavor, and a gentle chalkiness is also noticeable but the mouthfeel is a bit on the watery side. The light carbonation and crisp palate make it a very refreshing beer and globally a good attempt at the style but Hoegaarden is my preference for its slightly fuller body.
mcberko (125), British Columbia, Canada Nov 11, 2009 Pours a light orange / yellow. Aroma is citrus. Flavour is citrus and wheat, with a bit of bitterness. Good wheat beer. dimenhetfield (157), , Florida, USA Nov 7, 2009 Nice light pour, color is a mix between orange and gold. Has aromas of citrus and fruit. Sort of tangy and bitter. A nice enjoyable beer. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Nov 6, 2009 Pours a lasting ring of white head with a very murky, deep straw color body. Aromas of yeast, lemongrass, clove, earth. Flavor is yeast, citrus, grass, clove, hint of banana. Good body. Finish is dry with lasting flavor. AR (417), Georgia, USA Nov 6, 2009 Not my favorite style, but pretty good for a Belgian white. Frothy head. Grassy lemon flavor. Good body. Narnad (682), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Nov 1, 2009 Pours a deep golden, lots of carbonation along the glass, quick bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma has a strong clove, chamomile, wheat, light grainy note with a light sweetness. Flavor has a slightly sour wheat that quickly fades to a chamomile note, clove to follow with a sweet grainy and spicy ending. Light body, effervescent texture with almost no lacing on the glass. Great for the style but an okay brew when compared to the rest of their lineup. DeadGirl (192), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Oct 25, 2009 Pours a clear/bit hazy golden from the 12oz. bottle: Floral aroma, like that of chamomille tea. Flavors of strong yeast and ripe green apple hit the palatte right away, followed by some faint pale malts and lemon pulp. A bit too watered down to be considered "tart" (in a good way). Drinkability: Simply delicious. Rebuy: Again and again. #158 on 25102009, DG. phaleslu (428), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 21, 2009 Bottle from The Party Source. Pours a mostly clear gold color with just a little cloudiness and some lovely vertical ribbons and a big frothy white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat, lighter malts, banana and lemon citrus. Flavor is not as strong, more of a slightly watered down version of the aroma. Smoother than a lot of other Unibroue beers, and has that unmistakable Unibroue character in the aroma and flavor. Light-medium bodied, smooth, moderate carbonation.
