3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle. Clear golden with a white head. Reminds me of a lighter Blanche de Chambly but not quite as much wheat. Unibroue yeast, some wheat, slight spice, bit sweet, grass and lemon zest. Moderate to high carbonation, mild body but strong flavour profile, on the sweet side but fresh and pleasant. Would definitely drink this in the summer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Beautiful little session brew. The pour is a cloudy golden blonde in the body with a puffy off white head and light sparkly carbonation. The nose is lightly spiced, with light wheaty malt notes, a bit of a citrus hop note. The middle is lightly sweet, grainy and crisp with a few spiced and citrus notes. Well balanced overall and quite tasty indeed.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma: Peaches and cream, grapefruit, citrusy, coriander, a slight boozeyness and the signature Unibroue yeast. For a 5% beer this is quite aromatic and I’ve had higher ABV beers do much worse than this.
Appearance: Cloudy gold color with a puffy, white head that fades to a bit of lacing.
Taste: A bit on the watery side but it’s quite citrusy and the hop flavour comes out quite well. Slight caramel hints.
Palate: On the thin side but it’s quite nice with nothing offensive or offputting. Sweet with a bitter then sour finish.
Overall: Clean and refreshing and has quite the character. Very enjoyable and I thought I’d have a hard time replacing Hoegaarden for a cheap and refreshing beer. They’ve met their match!

When I first started this bottle I wouldn’t have expected to give it a 3.6 but the Blonde really grew on me. I’ve had the Raftman and Ephemere so this seemed to be just the "straightforward " version of those. In other words, it’s naked Unibroue, spreadlegged on the bed, for all the world to see. I wouldn’t speak that way of other brewers but as the most famous high quality Canadian brewer, they get placed under the microscope.
Blonde coloured (!) with a whitish head, the yeast gives it fantastic fruit and spice characters... Unibroue always seem a little forboding, with extra strong esters and phenols, but after the first sip or two you’re glad you started. A bit more acidic than I’d expected. Hm I think I’ll have one now.
