3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a medium chocolate colour with a massive, 3-fingered head. Colour of dark hot chocolate. Had on tap at Dario’s Brasserie in Omaha, Nebraska. Smooth-drinking with subtle malts that were not overpowering, as I had anticipated they would be. Medium body with minimal carbonation.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is brown bread with toasty roasty malt on a backgroud of spring flowers and fruity yeast. Mouthfeel is mostly silky and smoth. Taste is a little sweet, yeasty, a trace of bubble gum, but eith a dominance of dried berries and plumbs. Undertones are roasted barley, a slight bitterness, rasins, sweet wine and a little grassy. Aftertaste is nutty, wet and yeasty. All in all, it tastes a little forced. Like they decided to make a black beer, instead of inspiration leading to a beer that just happens to be black.

341ml Bottle.. It’s been ages since I had that one. Very dark brown color nice head but goes quickly( trappist glass) smells really belgian. Typical Unibroue yeast that I’m not so sure about in this one. Taste is a bit fruity, dark roasted malts but not much... to tell you the truth there is not much going in the taste of that beer kinda shy and watered for a 6.2% ABV. this isn’t bad but not great it could be fixed very easily, hop it up and use a different kind of yeast... average

"fruit and spice in a belgian beer. not unique in that, or in it’s similarity to several other Unibroue beers, but not bad. May try it again during the summer."

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roast, caramel, dark fruit, figs, the typical Unibroue yeast, somewhat dry. Not my favorite from them, but not bad either.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Quebecois-style root beer I reckon, not too shabby at all. Dark brown with plum hue and a really quickly disappearing ivory head. Sexy basement-covered-in-licorice-bubblegum aromas. Taste has some leather, burnt toffee, dark roasty malts, raisins and prunes. Some winey booziness that is not unsettling. Mid carbonation keeps this dusky drink zazzy. A pretty fun trip to Unibroueland French Beer Amusement Park. Eat some strong aged cheddar and call it a night.

Bottle. Dark pour with little head. Smells of raisin and banana. Taste similar with fruits and nuts as well, a little boozy too. The colour fools you, as the body isnt that heavy along with mouth feel. It is somewhat sweet and oily texture. Not my favourite from Unibroue, but then again not my favourite type of beer either.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
12oz bottle, from Party Town. Best before 02-21-08. Wait, 2008??? Holy crap, I have never seen a unibroue bottle this old. Almost pitch black color. Thin khaki head. Loose bits of lace. Unfortunately very little flavor to this, and some noticeable oxidization. Dark fruit, light spice, some raisin. Very dry finish, papery, musty. Medium to bigger body. Kind of soft, lighter, very dry carbonation. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Light sweet in that super dry finish, maybe. Kind of a spicy bite in the finish. Much harder to drink than I was hoping for when I grabbed this from my fridge. Pretty shit, way too damn old. Waste of $2.75. I forced it down over the course of an hour, though, so that I’d never again be tempted to by a 7 year old bottle of unibroue.

Unibroue Chambly Noire
I had no clue there was a Chambly Noire. Im a big fan of the Blanche.
Versus dark black pour as expexted. Pretty much no head. Distinct smell I cannot place. Thick low carbonation. Very thick. Stout like. Nutty and fruity. Raisins and plumb and more.
Its okay. Not great, butnin no way bad.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
341ml bottle from Allen’s Bar. Toronto, Ontario. It pours an opaque dark brown colour with a small tan head which quickly recedes to a ring. Good head (ring) retention. It has a complex aroma and a mixture of dark fruit, grapes
candy(liquirish), plum and notes of cloves. The taste matches the aroma. It has a medium body with lively carbonation.
