2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 VTHopHead (1331) - Barre, USA - FEB 21, 2010
Bottle/750ml - Poured a dark brown with a medium light tan head that faded to a thin covering over the beer. Aroma is malty and slightly sweet with caramel and dark fruits. Flavor is malty and slightly sweet to start... fruity but with an odd sour yeast flavor that stuck in your mouth for a while and was not all that pleasant. Not my favorite...
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 reebtogi (1524) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 17, 2012
341ml bottle pours amber brownish color with a 3 finger off-white head that settles down slowly to a thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is roasted malts and aromatic hops. Taste is roasted malty bitterness with some malty sweetness and a lingering hoppy bitter finish. Medium body and spritzy carbonation leaving a pleasing feeling on the palate. A nice ale, but this brewery makes many better.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Skvader (88) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 9, 2011
A quite uninteresting sweet aroma containing subtle hint of caramel and yeast. Quite refreshing, medium-sour flavour, with subtle hints of milk chocolate and hazelnut
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 cdleach (1) - highland, New York, USA - DEC 2, 2011 does not count
caramel, chocolate, earthy, soy sauce, raisin, brown, clear, minimal head, tan foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, umami, full body, creamy, lively, long finish, found this bottle somewhere and saw the best buy date was feb 2008 and thats what attracted me to it. i saw lots of critical reviews and had a pretty good feeling that it was going to be garbage. it was delicous.

Picked this up from a local store. Great deep copper color and head when poured. I really like this brewer, but this isn’t one of their best beers.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 VT (125) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 17, 2011
Draft pint from a restaurant. Very dark with brown, reddish reflects. Tastes quite sweet, dark grapes, and maybe even citrus (yes, citrus!). Has a bit of a sweet, molasses-like aftertaste, very little bitterness, along with a roasted, moka-creamish finish. Way too thin for such a dark ale, in my opinion. Problem is, Unibroue tries to sell this one as a stout, whereas it feels way more like a white ale-tasting dark-colored ale...Definitely not on par with their other products, they should discontinue it and go forward with La Terrible, a much better option for fans of darker ales.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 UM02 (187) - Quebec, CANADA - NOV 8, 2011
Drinkable but unremarkable dark ale. Some roasty malt taste but little else in the way of flavour. A bit too carbonated. Easy drinking but I expect more from Unibroue, not one of their better beers.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 GhostFace (167) - Wisconsin, USA - NOV 5, 2011
12oz bottle. dark brown pour. carmel and roasted malt aroma, also picked up on some yeast. decent flavor, roasty and lighter bodied than it looks. heavy carbonation, seems to be like this in all their beers...
