Chambly Noire is a smooth and creamy dark beer with a beige and persistent head. Its torrefaction aromas and slight bitterness enable it to perfectly accompany various fish dishes, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts.

750mL bottle in a Trappiste glass. Pours a dark brown with minimal head. Malty aroma with hints of brown sugar. Mild hop and malt flavor. Tastes good, but not as developed as I expected.

Pour is dark, dark brown with reddish tints. Head and retention are virtually nonexistent. Nose is....surprisingly fruity, with light roasted malt, and smoke that somehow gives off faint smoked meat aromas that seem out of place. Light (and boring) yeast notes. Taste is weirdly dry, with very little sweetness, and a surprising amount of water for a 6.2% beer. Itís not unpleasant, nothing tastes off. Itís just really boring.

Pours an almost opaque hazy deep mahogany witha faint reddish hue topped by a finger of creamy tanned head. Retention is pretty good and you get nice lacing. The nose is dark fruits, sweet and toasted malts. Belgian yeast bring a fruity/earthy element. The taste is light dark bread, sweet and nutty where once again, the yeasts come through fruity and earthy. The malts arenít overpowered but they donít express their roasted notes very strongly. Combined with a low density mouthfeel, the brew seems a little diluted but still shows a nice character.

Aroma is dark fruits, rich malts and slight earthy notes. Taste is sweet roasty malts and plum plus apple notes. Finishes pretty shallow and watered down sadly. Light bitterness that finishes fairly smoothly. Appearance is a black body with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Dark brown and almost clear. Has an off-white head. Sweet, malty aroma, some caramel notes too. Flavor starts sweet, faint yeasty notes too, faint soy.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2014 341ml Bottle.. Itís been ages since I had that one. Very dark brown color nice head but goes quickly( trappist glass) smells really belgian. Typical Unibroue yeast that Iím not so sure about in this one. Taste is a bit fruity, dark roasted malts but not much... to tell you the truth there is not much going in the taste of that beer kinda shy and watered for a 6.2% ABV. this isnít bad but not great it could be fixed very easily, hop it up and use a different kind of yeast... average UPDATE: drank a 3 years old bottle and the taste is pretty much the same ... this beer does not age very well. in fact it doesnít age at all

"fruit and spice in a belgian beer. not unique in that, or in itís similarity to several other Unibroue beers, but not bad. May try it again during the summer."

Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roast, caramel, dark fruit, figs, the typical Unibroue yeast, somewhat dry. Not my favorite from them, but not bad either.

Quebecois-style root beer I reckon, not too shabby at all. Dark brown with plum hue and a really quickly disappearing ivory head. Sexy basement-covered-in-licorice-bubblegum aromas. Taste has some leather, burnt toffee, dark roasty malts, raisins and prunes. Some winey booziness that is not unsettling. Mid carbonation keeps this dusky drink zazzy. A pretty fun trip to Unibroueland French Beer Amusement Park. Eat some strong aged cheddar and call it a night.

Bottle. Dark pour with little head. Smells of raisin and banana. Taste similar with fruits and nuts as well, a little boozy too. The colour fools you, as the body isnt that heavy along with mouth feel. It is somewhat sweet and oily texture. Not my favourite from Unibroue, but then again not my favourite type of beer either.

12oz bottle, from Party Town. Best before 02-21-08. Wait, 2008??? Holy crap, I have never seen a unibroue bottle this old. Almost pitch black color. Thin khaki head. Loose bits of lace. Unfortunately very little flavor to this, and some noticeable oxidization. Dark fruit, light spice, some raisin. Very dry finish, papery, musty. Medium to bigger body. Kind of soft, lighter, very dry carbonation. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Light sweet in that super dry finish, maybe. Kind of a spicy bite in the finish. Much harder to drink than I was hoping for when I grabbed this from my fridge. Pretty shit, way too damn old. Waste of $2.75. I forced it down over the course of an hour, though, so that Iíd never again be tempted to by a 7 year old bottle of unibroue.
