Ungstrup (11031), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 14, 2008 A pitch black beer with a medium brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with citrusy notes of hops and roasted malt as well as light notes of yeast - a somewhat odd mixture. The flavor is sweet malty with light notes of roasted malt and chocolate, leading to a dry bitter finish. The body is a bit thin. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 15, 2007 (Bottle 34,1 cl) Courtesy of Siroy. Pours a hazy, dark brown with an orange hue and a tall, dense, beige, lacing head. Aroma of yeast, roasted malt and flowers. The body is medium with a very soft mouthfeel. Roasted malt, some caramel and perhaps even a touch of coffee is what I detect on my taste buds. Main impression here is sweetnes, but not stickingly so. The finish does not contain much bitterness. 090407 Oakes (6819), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 1, 2006 Near black colour. The aroma is toasty, dusty and yeasty. Not very enticing. The flavour is sweet with brown & demerara sugar, plummy fruitiness and pinot noir. A lighter version of Trois-Pistoles? Something like that. I like it and would take it as a work-night beer over the 9% stuff so I can see why they’d make it. joergen (6240), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 9, 2006 Bottle.
