COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Chambly Noire is a smooth and creamy dark beer with a beige and persistent head. Its torrefaction aromas and slight bitterness enable it to perfectly accompany various fish dishes, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts.

I tasted this with my husband and he kept asking me if I felt the smoky flavor and the true is that...not really.I have tryed some very smoky beers and this one wasnít that smoky. It smells like dirty laundry.

Distinctive smell of Unibroueís yeast. Red berries, spices, lemon and roasted malts. Taste is light, mineral. Very fruity (blackberry and rasberry), torrefaction, dates. Donít expect a smooth and round stout because of the "noire". Thatís a nice strong dark ale, very drinkable and accessible. It looks like a light version of the Trois Pistoles

On tap. Find this beer...odd. Nice dark pour but body didnít follow. I know itís an ale but expected more volume on the body. Taste was somewhat sweet with spices dark fruits notes. Not bad just different in a way it didnít appeal too me.

Pour on tap, dark brownish red pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of big anise, dark fruit, toffee into a bit of yeast, slight earthy note into a bit of grainy, husky note. Taste was a mix of grain, husk, slight dark fruit into lots of anise, dark fruits, some slight caramel, finishing fairly spicy, slightly sweet.

Pour is dark, dark brown with reddish tints. Head and retention are virtually nonexistent. Nose is....surprisingly fruity, with light roasted malt, and smoke that somehow gives off faint smoked meat aromas that seem out of place. Light (and boring) yeast notes. Taste is weirdly dry, with very little sweetness, and a surprising amount of water for a 6.2% beer. Itís not unpleasant, nothing tastes off. Itís just really boring.

Pours an almost opaque hazy deep mahogany witha faint reddish hue topped by a finger of creamy tanned head. Retention is pretty good and you get nice lacing. The nose is dark fruits, sweet and toasted malts. Belgian yeast bring a fruity/earthy element. The taste is light dark bread, sweet and nutty where once again, the yeasts come through fruity and earthy. The malts arenít overpowered but they donít express their roasted notes very strongly. Combined with a low density mouthfeel, the brew seems a little diluted but still shows a nice character.

Aroma is dark fruits, rich malts and slight earthy notes. Taste is sweet roasty malts and plum plus apple notes. Finishes pretty shallow and watered down sadly. Light bitterness that finishes fairly smoothly. Appearance is a black body with a thin pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Dark brown and almost clear. Has an off-white head. Sweet, malty aroma, some caramel notes too. Flavor starts sweet, faint yeasty notes too, faint soy.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2014 341ml Bottle.. Itís been ages since I had that one. Very dark brown color nice head but goes quickly( trappist glass) smells really belgian. Typical Unibroue yeast that Iím not so sure about in this one. Taste is a bit fruity, dark roasted malts but not much... to tell you the truth there is not much going in the taste of that beer kinda shy and watered for a 6.2% ABV. this isnít bad but not great it could be fixed very easily, hop it up and use a different kind of yeast... average UPDATE: drank a 3 years old bottle and the taste is pretty much the same ... this beer does not age very well. in fact it doesnít age at all

"fruit and spice in a belgian beer. not unique in that, or in itís similarity to several other Unibroue beers, but not bad. May try it again during the summer."

Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have mild roast, caramel, dark fruit, figs, the typical Unibroue yeast, somewhat dry. Not my favorite from them, but not bad either.
