RSRIZZO (955), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Apr 21, 2008 Aroma is sour with mild roasted malt back tones. Color is black with good carbonation and a fizzy head that dissipates quickly. Taste is light and roasted. Starting with a light body it goes down with an easy crisp feel. Finish comes in with a light roasted taste and a creamy chocolate like taste then a bitterness that is a little more sour then bitter. After taste is clean with just a touch of bitterness lingering. This is an odd brew, it looks dark but drinks light. Its also the weakest Unibroue I have ever had, its not bad, but nowhere near as good as there other brews.
smith4498 (265), Miami, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Pours dark brown with tan head. Fruity, yeasty Unibroue aroma. Sweet dark fruit flavor with Belgian yeast. Medium body with lively carbonatoin and a creamy mouthfeel. I really enjoy many of their other beers, but this was a bit of a letdown. drfabulous (657), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jul 14, 2008 Belgian darkness gives way at some point in the drinking to a bit of cola. Some Unibroue beers do this. Quality control? At times. The brewery hovers between brilliance and "just ok." Here, we are closer to just ok. kidmartinek (656), austin, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 Pours black, small head. Alcoholic sweet yeast aroma. Taste is full, good, and strong ale malt. Mouthfeel is a little sweet, thick and sugary, and a little fizzy. gam (471), brisbane, Australia Jul 13, 2008 Very dark ale opaque, head tan not large carbonation good.Aroma,clove,coriander,hop,malt.Flavour clove coriander malt good hop background, orange sweetness for balance, cooked flavours come out well, sweet almost perfume.Finish full flavoured, perfumed, lemon clove. dchmela (617), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy Maltajo and shared with Lee. Pours a muddy brown with a small tight tan head. Slightly sour apple, smoky aroma. Smooth malt taste with hints of sugar and smoke. Very tasty, but a little on the strange side.
