Slacks (356), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Sep 29, 2007 750ml Bottle: I hadn’t even heard about this one when I spotted it on my first trip to Premier Gourmet, looking forward to trying it! The pour was quite deep brown, hints of red, and a large beige head. The aroma is mostly roasted malt, that familiar Unibroue spice coming through it. The flavour.. average, oddly. Things that don’t pair well like roasty malts, sour fruits, autumn spices. Just strange, really. Had no trouble finishing it, but I’m not eager to buy it again.
durhambeer (525), Durham, USA Oct 6, 2008 Sample from bottle at WBF in Durham. Nearly black pour with small off-white head. Earthy, odd nose... malty toffee and stewed fruits. More rotten fruit on the palate with bittersweet notes and possibly some hints of cocoa. Overcarbonated as many Unibroue beers are, in my opinion. Not one of my favorites from them. smjohnst (160), , Pennsylvania, USA Oct 3, 2008 This was a good beer overall. It had much more of a porter taste and consistency to it then it did an ale. A good dark ale though. oh6gdx (6331), Vaasa, Finland Oct 1, 2008 Bottled@EBF2008. Amber colour, mediumsized head. Aroma is fruits, caramel and some hops. Flavour is plum, fruits, caramel, hops and quite much yeast. Also some slight wheaty notes. Quite sweet and mildly spicy finish. mjfleming23 (21), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 25, 2008 Had this as part of a Unibroue tasting dinner. Poured a deep brown with medium head. Rich, malty, dark, buttery, and toffee tones. A nice beer that I will be buying again. Pairs nicely with a buttery, cheddar, or bacon centered dish. pacaus (42), Dublin, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 17, 2008 I enjoyed the flavour of this beer. It had a nice malt/fruit/coffee taste but seemed a little sweet. It was a good beer and I would definitely enjoy another, but may prefer others I have had.
