joeyplush (47), Boothwyn, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 1, 2008 A very dark pour, basically black. Nice off-white head that reduces but not completely. Medium lacing. Aroma has a mix of fruitiness (grapes), malt, and some coffee. Taste has hints of caramel and coffee, with a light fruitiness in the finish. A very unique and enjoyable beer. kwoeltje (1207), Manchester, Missouri, USA Aug 30, 2008 (750 ml bottle) Dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma of roast malts. Flavor is dark fruits, roast malt, yeast. taalhiker (15), , Ohio, USA Aug 29, 2008 750ml Bottle. Poured very dark - darker than expected. Aroma was modest with some malt. Thinner mouth feel than expected. Good finish but overall not up to the La Fin du Monde level. 1_2many (231), Ohio, USA Aug 26, 2008 Alefest sample. Dark brown with a decent head. Aroma is simple dark fruit with a similar sweet flavor. Not very complex. Alcohol is low but still well hidden. Still overly carbonated. Good but I wish they would stop mixing baking soda and vinegar in there. SpringsLicker (1817), Tennessee, USA Aug 18, 2008 Dark brown body with a tall, lasting off-white head.
Fruity, sweet aroma and flavor.
Not overly complex nor much variation from several of their other brews, but well crafted and an excellent accompaniment to a great meal.
