ericnixon (711), Lenox, Massachusetts, USA Oct 21, 2006 Dark dark brown where it looks black save for the tapered part of the glass at the bottom which showed a deep brown. Thick, oatmealy-colored head. Spice filled aroma. The taste wasn’t as pronounced as the smell, but was still good. Minor sharp effervesentness (sp-1) but it quickly transitions to something a lot more smooth. I’m amazed...finally a beer from Unibroue that doesn’t suck (except for Trois Pistoles - that’s one great beer).
SpringsLicker (1812), Tennessee, USA Aug 18, 2008 Dark brown body with a tall, lasting off-white head.
Fruity, sweet aroma and flavor.
Not overly complex nor much variation from several of their other brews, but well crafted and an excellent accompaniment to a great meal. BeerGestapo (297), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 17, 2008 (CANADA) Pours a dark brown color with a sm tan head. The aroma is of dark fruits, coffee, and malts. There is some nice carbonation, with some fruits, and yeast. The mouthfeel is zesty and goes down very nice !!! this ale is pretty good. pintocb (397), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 17, 2008 Dark with a white head. Light flavor with a lot of belgian spices. Very effervescent, as all their beers are. Lots of fruity esters. Wonderful mouthfeel. CaryTheDude (157), Ripon, Wisconsin, USA Aug 16, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. Got kinda scared when I stuck my nose in this bitch. Unibroue has that amazing tendency to create dark as sin beers with light as a feather mouthfeel. Crazy. NomDeBeer (127), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 15, 2008 Light mouthfeel, kind of watery. Sweet fruit, and yeast-like bread flavors. Too much carbonation for my taste. Drinkable, but uneventful.
