zach8270 (1820), Henrietta, New York, USA Jun 21, 2009 (bottle - 12 oz) Slightly hazy gold color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is sweet and spicy with a nice hint of yeast, various fruits, heavy malts, and some dough. Flavor is sweet and fruity at the start with a nice and sweet yeast middle that mixes with a very nice amount of spice. Finishes clean and sweet. Alcohol is well hidden. Much more flavor unlocks as it warms. Very high quality. alobar (857), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 20, 2009 Cloudy straw color with a white soapy head that very quickly disappears. Aroma of grain, yeast, and fruit. Flavor of wheat, fruit/apple, and spice. Very nice and improved as it warmed to room temperature. Very nice! Davros (103), Australia Jun 7, 2009 Clear golden/orange pour with an attractive fine head.
Aromas are the typical Unibroue doughy yeast, some very faint pears and apples and some soapy/wheaty notes.
Flavours are somewhat interesting with vanilla, spices, lemon, more doughy yeast and a hint of sharp lemon. A bit too sweet though, which, when combined with the soapiness, becomes almost cloying.
High carbonation, but not over the top. TheGrandMaster (1703), Auckland, New Zealand Jun 5, 2009 Bottle (in NZ). Is this really 9%? Drinks so smooth and easy, dangerous stuff. Fruit and touches of peppery spice and that smooth malt. Delicious. Chef Chad (78), Grand Junction, Colorado, USA Jun 4, 2009 WOW.... WOW.... WOW... I am amazed on how well this beer was from beginning to end.It was the stand out beer of my fun filled night. I wish I would of bought the big one instead of the small one. Smells of sugar and fruit , nice tangy stone fruit. Pours hazy orange with a very nice head that lasted. Perfect carbonation with a stunning crisp finish!!!! Flavor was perfect for me.. Sweet, sugary, a crafted sour linger, Good amount of ripe stone fruit flavors.. and just a bit o spice on the back... Stunning!!!!!!!!!! By far one of the most enjoyable beers this year Dickinsonbeer (3280), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jun 4, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very light gold with a nice white head and slight lace. Aroma is spicy even for the unibroue yeast, peppery, phenolic light chile character- yeasty, doughy and good pils malt and ok fruity esters- pear. Flavor is nice rich pils cracker malts, dough slight toast, good pciy phenols, bubblegum, black pepper, green, earthy, spicy hops, and typical unibroue yeast character, light lemon and slight soap in the end. Finsihs is relatively clean with more pepper and chile. Good stuff. Cirrhosis (550), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 2, 2009 So very good, the name translates into "gift of god" and I got to agree. Beer pours a cloudy yellow / light brown / hint of orange with a nice white fluffy cap. The smell has the typical Unibroue yeast and a very strong sweet apple aroma, the smell finishes with spices and some alcohol, my mouth drools hoping it tastes as good as the smell. Phenomenal flavor, sweet tangy apple, cloves (I think), and yeast fill the mouth. There is a wood and wheat flavor hiding in the beer, and the alcohol taste is awesome you can taste it but its not harsh its very very smooth. This is one of the best Unibroue’s I’v ever had, great beer. Vertical Bacon Strips (581), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 2, 2009 Good ’ole Metamucil qualities. Thick, light orange brown. Nice thick white head, good retention and excellent sticky lacing. Lots of aroma! Spice, yeast, weak caramel(?) and sweet apple. Got what I called a sour-fake grape-wood too, what ever that is. Soft tasting, a wack of yeast and the apple/wood thing. I noticed the taste the alcohol - a wineish quality to it, which was acceptable. Mouthfeel was quite dry on the top of the tongue, had nice carbs, a nice swish and on some sips finished sour. Medium bodied. Good stuff.
