MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Feb 23, 2009 Cloudy foggy yellow in color. Banana, orange, lemon zest notes. Tasty, not too aggressive. Easy drinking high gravity beer. mcd410x (10), Florida, USA Feb 23, 2009 Bottle. Golden color. Decent head. Surprisingly complex. Slightly spicy finish. Effervescent. Very easy drinking.
daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Feb 22, 2009 Poured at the beefest at Gulfstream park. Very cloudy orangish color. Upon intial whiff there is no question that this is a Unibroue beer. You can smell their yeast strain and it is so easily recognizable to me. In the nose I get some gum, spices, yeast, bread, banana, and some stone fruits. Once you get through the fluffy white head, you get a very yeasty, fruity, and soft beer. Good stuff as usual. And the damn brewery is pronounced UniBREW. NOT UniBROW. My mistake of the night last night. Damn. brigg (213), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Feb 18, 2009 (bottle) A densely foggy orange-yellow beer with a small white head that coats the glass nicely; very bubbly. Aroma of yeast, cloves, banana, spice, and floral notes. A sweet. spicy, zesty flavor with banana, some orange, pear. Lots of carbonation, soft bubbles - comparable to champagne. Medium bodied. Thylacine (237), Tasmania, Australia Feb 16, 2009 Bottle - Cloudy yellow. Thin white head. Too highly carbonated. Sweet, wheaty, spicy, with citrus, banana. Sweet, spicy finish. baobubba (446), Corvallis, Oregon, USA Feb 9, 2009 Red golden that pours a super carbonated over active head that wanes to a thin white head. Fruit, malt, and some alcohol spice on the aroma. Semi-sweet but not a thick palate like most sweeter brews. It’s OK. bw1982 (69), , Arizona, USA Feb 9, 2009 Poured from bottle. Pours dark yellow to orange with white head, which doesn’t stick around too long. Fruity aromas, very thick taste, a little on the sweet side with a lot of barley etc. Strong ABV and tastes as such, but a very sold brew. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Feb 8, 2009 Pours orange with thin white head with good coat of sediment sin bottle.
Aroma has plenty of good fruits (banana/apple), ester.
Taste, thick sugary mouthfeel, fruits with estery connotations (banana / apple), very sweet an medium carbonation, plenty of grains, notes of Belgian yeast, and one amazing alcohol mouthfeel.
This is one solid Belgian strong ale.
