TikiE (360), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jul 18, 2008 Bottled: Pours a golden color with head that dissapears. Smells of fruit, yeast, and taste of sweet fruit that tastes like wine. Good Belgian! Hank1980 (734), Athens, Georgia, USA Jul 17, 2008 Bottle. Poured gold with alot of carbonation. Aroma of yeast, fruit, spice. Taste is of citrus, spice, malt. Body is light, finish is dry. Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Not my favorite beer from Unibroue. Golden in color, huge white fizzy head. Aroma is sweet and yeasty with flavor being mostly tart and belgian yeast. Very dry finish. Would prefer the Trois Pistoles or La Fin Du Monde. 12many (231), Ohio, USA Jul 14, 2008 Bottle from woodsman52. Light amber with a large white head. Sweet malty yeast aroma. Very sweet taste and overly fizzy in my opinion. Good brew but these guys have become quite average for my experiences. Many of their beers have similar qualities. Woodsman52 (23), , Ohio, USA Jul 14, 2008 nicely balanced beer. tastes similar to the 1900 grand cru lambic. enjoyable beer has a nice palate that will make your mouth water. Imperial-John (154), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Jul 14, 2008 341ml bottle at Rhino in Toronto. Thought there would be more head as a triple white but not so much. Small white head, cloudy yellow colour. Strong yeast aroma and yeasty citrus taste. Very similar to Fin du Monde. Does blend in the 9% very well. ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Jul 13, 2008 12oz bottle. Best before Feb09. Biscuity malts. Rather estery with a pretty strong yeast kick. Finish is dry with some metallic banana alcohol coming through. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jul 13, 2008 750ml corked&caged bottle. Pours a deep, very hazy, orange-gold with lighter gold highlights and thick, soapy-looking, white foam. The aroma is exotic and enticing: lemon and some spices, aromatic and bready malts that have some biscuit and cracker qualities, balanced by a subtle, funky grassiness. The flavor follows the aroma: light citrus zest and spices initially, followed by a very nice, distinct, maltiness. The ester profile is distinctly Unibroue (reminds me, in particular, of their Blanc de Chambly)- lovely notes of tart fruit and subtle phenols. The finish is dry and refreshing with a very light, (almost unnoticeable) flavor of ethanol and gentle warming quality, too. The mouthfeel is deceptively light in body (medium body, very light and dry for 9%abv) and vigorously carbonated - which lends a very pleasing tickle all over the tongue and also enhances the impression of dryness in the finish. Overall, a beautiful Belgian ale - basically an "imperial" version of Blanc de Chambly (at least that is certainly what it tastes like).
