dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 17, 2008 Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours hazy orange with a medium fizzy head that disappears quickly. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, caramel and spice. Taste is the same but with a yeast character and more pronounced. Fizzy. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 15, 2008 Appearance: Pours a cloudy, murky golden body with a tall, though diminishing, white head.
Smell: Spiced wheat malts, a wide variety of fruit juices, vanilla, and clover honey.
Taste: Malted wheat with a restrained honeylike sweetness. Juiced pears, nectarines, and bananas, all a bit tangy and stirred up with a vanilla bean. Touch of spice and sourness. Maybe a few flecks of candi sugar. Warming, fruity finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Moderate, lively carbonation. Some creaminess to the mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Not bad, not bad. I’m going down Memory Lane with Unibroue, and, so far, I’m leaning towards the maltier offerings, Maudite and Trois Pistoles. downender (2535), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Jun 14, 2008 330ml bottle bought in Brouage, France. Golden-brown in colour with a tight, off-white head that proved long-lived. Aromas of yeast, cloves, coriander and and honey. Flavour was sweetish, with plenty of toffee, overripe pears, more spices and a long, yeasty but dry finish. Excellent.
