Weird fruity, kind of sweet smell, but pleasant. There are berries and other dark fruits, and alot of tropical lighter fruits. Overripe mango, something else weird. Alot of honey in the flavor, and mango again, almost too sweet but just enough bitterness to balance that. Very good offering, one of the best from Unibroue. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 29, 2008 The aroma of this bad boy is somewhat earthy, definately a distinct smell. the appearance is somewhat of a dull golden. The flavor is very nice, coming on strong with a sweet and almost fruity flavor and then abruptly after about 10 seconds it diminishes. This brew does a fantastic job of hiding the burn of its 9% alc/ vol. However it lacks the palate complexity i personally have come to admire. phishpond417 (1914), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz bottle with an blurred, indistinctable expiration date that looks like 05 05 10 . Pours a hazy golden tone with some off white head. The aroma is very unusual but also very yeasty. I think I noticed something fruity. The flavor is also on the yeasty side and carries a bit of a punch.. The marketing campaign says this is named after the ship used by 17th Century explorer Samuel de Champlain. For better of for worse, Samuel de Champlain is credited with discoverng the state of Vermont (where I grew up) and giving it its name "Verd Mont," which in French means Green Mountain. The state’s slogan is the Green Mountain State. Just a bit of trivia. As for the beer, it is above average but not something I would drink frequently. fluffy (229), Florida, USA
