hayduke (1621), Eureka, California, USA Jan 14, 2008 From a 750 ml C&C bottle, this poured a cloudy orange with a good sized head that was gone quickly and left light lacing. Nose is very fruity. Seems like citrus, apple, and apricots. Mouthfeel is slick and flavor is sweet, with alcohol showing. Overall the flavors are powerful, maybe almost too much so that it seems a little more like fermented fruit punch than ale. After the first few ounces it got more difficult to drink. Not bad, but not as good as some of the other Unibroue offerings. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA Jan 13, 2008 very fruity, typical belgian/wheat characteristics, bubbly, very easy to drink, hard to believe that this is a 9% alcohol content sirpsycho (342), Murrysville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 12, 2008 Bottle at Bacchus. Pours a hazy orange, large white head that doesn’t stick around long. Aroma is sweet with fuit aromas. Flavor is again sweet, but not annoyingly sweet. Oranges, peach and apples dominate the flavor profile. Nice beer, I’ll be having this one again. ajm (903), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 12, 2008 I would drink this again, and I do not say that about Unibroue (well... the cassis Ephemere is pretty special). Very crisp, very easy-drinking. Like a sweeter, less complex version of Gouden Carolus Easter. Only slight yeast, vague fruit. ZiggyG (131), Gladstone, Oregon, USA Jan 9, 2008 bottle. Pours cloudy opaque yellow. Small head leave lots of lacing around the edges. Smell is of berry fruits and yeast with a nice kick of candied apples. Tastes almost vinous with Unibroues characteristic yeasty flavor. The flavor is lacking something when compared to la fin du monde and trios pistoles. I can’t put my finger on it but the body isn’t right or the carbonation level doesn’t fit in. I think it is a bit light on the palate. Good offering but not the best from this great brewer. enak (27), Australia Jan 7, 2008 Poured from 75cl bottle to a Chimay chalice.
Aromas of strong citrus and pineapple. Poured a cloudy amber with a 2 finger head which held before subsiding.
Taste was fairly dry with flavours of aged green apple and grapefruit. Fairly simple bier without much evolution. Average in the line of Unibroue biers. Collint (452), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jan 6, 2008 Bottle, interesting fruit aroma. Poures a nice head and taste sweet. It is a good beer, i expected more though. JCB (1716), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jan 1, 2008 Hmmm, probably the least of Unibroue’s beers (of which I am generally a fan). Golden Belgian strong, with a nice carbonation and some decent retention. Pleasant aroma of sharp fruits and spice, and just a trace of pepper added to the taste. But it all diminishes too quickly, and things get a touch watery as well.
