Don de Dieu means "Gift of God". The Don de Dieu was the ship of Samuel de Champlain as he was commissioned by the King of France to explore the vast and inhospitable land called America.

Don de Dieu is French for "Gift of God" and Unibroue is apparently French for "brewer that likes pretentious names but can get away with it because their beers are legitimately great." Er, so that’s a bit of a loose translation. However, Don de Dieu is not a loose translation of the Belgian Abbey ale. It’s golden and effervescent. Sweet bread-like malts, spices, subtle fruitiness, and a bit of earthy hops show up in the smell and taste profiles. Body is silky soft and the 9% ABV is covered nicely. While it’s more simple than you’d expect, the execution is lovely. This is a Unibroue product to the core.

Nice hay color with white topper. Aroma of citrus and malt. Taste of barnyard with orange peel. Nice carbonation and short alcohol aroma at end.

Aroma is is deep effervescent lemon with sweet malt with some yeasty breadyness. Appearance is hazy dark yelow with large frothy white head. Taste is sweet malt candied sugar, lemon, peach, apricot, yeast. Some spicy hopping. Palate is light but thick on the tongue. Overall an excellent beer. For the price Unibroue can’t be touched. Not your typical Golden Strong but still excellent.

It has a heavy scent of wheat and fruit. The taste is impressively rich and contains orange, freshly cut cereal, pineapple, peach and coriander. A very sweet but never dominant flavor characterizes the mouth feeling until a pleasant citrus / sour aftertaste.

Light amber, tall, white and explosive foam (careful opening the bottle). Intense, alcoholic and yeasty nose. Light body, weak flavor, hot mouthfeel, avg length. Sweet balanced somewhat by acidity but low in bitterness. Flavor is alcoholic, malty, slightly citrusy but not hoppy. Unbalanced. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2016 Bottle from Harvest Market, Bedford NH. Aroma is Belgian yeast with fruity esters and cheese smell. Appearance is hazy golden yellow with nice sparkle and 2-finger width white head and fair foamy lacing. Taste is lightly sweet and yeasty. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture and early fizzy carbonation fading to a creamy, foamy feel. The finish is fairly dry and leaves a cool sensation on the tongue almost like a mint. Overall, light and crisp all around.

Pours a hazy darker shade of golden, topped with an average sized white head. Malty aroma, some fruity notes and yeasty. Taste is sweet and malty, fruity a bit and yeasty, wit hearthy feel. Some presence of alcohol. Not really my favourite.
