Pours turbid gold, with more white head than a Connecticut sorority. Nice aroma of fruit, hops, spice, and earthiness. Tastes very bold and firm, with hints of citrus, hops, fruit, hay, and chardonnay at the finish. The finish is very dry and fruity....very bier de gardish. Slightly harsh and acrid at the finish, but that takes nothing away from the class of this beer. Unibroue is the 500 pound gorilla of brewing. Lubiere (4557), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Maderised aroma with sweet fruits, and coriander. Sweet malt with cardboard taste, with no alcohol in finish. Medium bodied. Cant remeber if this was an older bottle from dumdum. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 10, 2003 Updated: Sep 11, 2008Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (cookie, toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly to moderately yeasty (basement, cobwebs), with notes of pear syrup, apple butter, candy sugar. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. A bit too syrupy and sugary for me to really get excited about, but it’s the typically enjoyable Unibroue quality. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 16, 2002 Updated: May 4, 2004May 2002: Well I loved it. Far from being a disappointment, this might be currently my favorite from this great brewery. Gorgeous tawny golden color, and mine had an enormous (though quick-dying) head; slightly opaque and cloudy. Yeasty, fruity nose with a dry floral underpinning; dry champagnelike body with some delicious apple and apricot bits coming through; finish is a perfect sweet/dry balance. Is it a Tripel? A Weizenbock? A Wit? Who gives a shit, its wonderful. 7/5/9/5/18=4.4
May 2004: Pale nearly clear golden, huge yeast clouds, smallish lasting head. Enormously malty, peachy aroma goes on an on. Big malt fullness in the flavor and body as well, slightly peachy and with hints of oak and vanilla at the finish. I overrated this a bit as a newbie, but it is very very good and I hope that it sticks around. bhensonb (4406), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Light yeasty aroma, perhaps with some citrus. Light apricot golden color with little head or lacing in the snifter. Starts with light, tight bubbles, sharp clean flavor, herbal mixed with fruit, almost grassy. Sweetness is very moderate. The principal taste is either very simple, but unfamiliar to me, or it’s a complex of many things. Sweet lemon grass? Drinks well. motelpogo (4399), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 15, 2004 CLoudy gold color with a large white head and tons of carbonation. The aroma was a sour lemon zest and some grass. The taste begins very sweetly with caramel. Then the drink fnishes with sligtly sour apricot and spiciness of cinnamon and ginger. The alcohol is definitely tasted. This is interesting, if nothing else. tiggmtl (4312), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 23, 2003 Initial hop aroma dissipates quickly followed by banana, lemon and apple in the nose. Large fluffy white fully diminishing head on hazy straw coloured body. What a fantastic combination of flavours: sweet apples, orange, lemon, a wonderful yeast flavour, some spiciness and a light tartness on the edges of the tongue - all on a solid malt base. Alcohol becomes more apparent as carbonation disappears. Quite full-bodied with a very smooth mouthfeel. Loses major points only because carbonation is so short-lived - by the time I'm halfway through a pint it's more like a still cider and becomes somewhat cloying. Bottle.
