3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 750ml. Aged for 2 years piror to tasting. Poured golden straw with a slight haze and a large, frothy, off-white head which was mostly diminishing. Aroma was of floral hops with sweet yeasty malts, lemon citrus, mandarin, apricots, cinnamon, coriander, hay and light barnyard notes. Flavor was a mild spicy hop bitterness with bready malts, tangy lemon zest, orange peel, green grapes, coriander and light notes of white pepper. Medium bodied with mild carbonation, a dry mouthfeel, slick texture and a long length finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A brilliant orange in the glass with a thin crown of foam on the surface. The nose is deep yeast. Itís more yeast on the tongue, with a peach juice meets fresh granny smith apples with a hint of light spice in the front & squeezed lemon & tangerine on the finish. Has the classic profile that you find in the Unibroue stable of beers. Annoying -- to say the least -- to see that Helsdon squirted his review out a day before mine & of course heís all over this like its the second coming. A fantastic sipper on an early summer Friday afternoon. Overheard on the chorus of the country song on the jukebox: "If Iím going down tonight / Iím going down drinking".

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Always something irksome about the lack of availability for many Unibrou beers in Ontario. Especially when youíre faced with such an exceptional beer like this one. Cloudy blonde pour with way too much head - like it wants me to have to wait. Nose full of yeasty spiciness, bready malts, and some sweetness. The taste is that Flemish yeast-rich fullness that Unibrou does better than anyone else in Canada, wheaty cereal malts, peach and a mild sweetness. Exceptional. Thank you Sleemans and Sapporo for not wrecking this brewery. Now get more bottles into the province, you own a part of the Beer Store for godís sakes.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
750 ml bottle from the LCBO.
Appearance: Pours a
hazy yellow colour with a huge amount of billowing white head. Average retention and no lacing.
Bread, Belgian yeast, clover.
Belgian yeast, lemon, baking spices.
Full with lots of carbonation. Very crisp almost refreshing finish.
Overall: Fantastic is my best descriptor for this. Iím not the biggest fan of Belgian ales but this beer takes those characteristics and does wonderful things with them. The finish is very crisp which is not something I was expecting in this style but was something I found quite enjoyable. You really donít notice the 9.0% abv as everything comes together so well.

Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy pale orange under a large white cap that fades quickly. Nose is yeast, bananas, spice and generous citrus undertones and some pear. Light honey sweetness with some light citrus bitterness and a medium spiciness. Medium oily mouth with prickly carbonation. Complex and well balanced.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
The Unibroue brewery of Quebec is one of the best North American breweries that specializes in Belgian-style beers. I donít drink their beers that often because theyíre expensive, but when I do itís a nice treat. Don de Dieu certainly is a refreshing take on the umbrella ďBelgian Strong Pale AleĒ style. Like a witbier, but much stronger; though it doesnít seem to be a tripel per se. It is very delectable and fun to drink and thatís what makes it so enjoyable.
I poured a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. It had a best before date of 11/28/17 and cost $4.49 ($0.37 per ounce).
Appearance: Extremely hazy body with a light orange shade. Pours to a two-finger, bright white, foamy head which mostly dissipates and leaves little lacing on the glass.
Smell: Strong orange aroma and other citrus pith spices. Very sweet, clean, and bright. Inviting.
Taste: The label indicates this beer is brewed with spices, but doesnít specify which spices. Neither does the website. Itís also described as ďtriple wheatĒ. Between the aroma and the taste Iím inclined to believe this is a very strong witbier of some sort. Orange is definitely a dominate characteristic; sweet orange juice on the first half, but also slightly zesty orangepeel on the second. Not much in the way of traditional brewerís spices, though (i.e. coriander, grains of paradise, etc.). The wheat gives it a slight tartness and a general wheaty flavor, though itís not nearly as strong as the orange. Noticeable bitterness through the middle Ė light dryness at the apex with a clean finish. Alcohol creates for very minor vanilla notes as well. Overall, itís quite delectable; though this is a bit sweeter than your average Belgian (thatís fine by me, though!).
Drinkability: Itís actually surprising that this beer weighs in at 9% ABV as it drinks and feels like something much lower. It has a standard bottle-conditioned Belgian mouthfeel with fine carbonation, though itís quite comfortable and smooth going down. Alcohol does create for some warmth, but itís in no way distracting. Iíd probably prefer more complexity for the weight, but whatís here is quite drinker-friendly.

Pretty decent. Reminds me of a triple. Pours a nice dark golden. Effervescent. Aromas of Belgian yeast, bread, a touch of banana. Same flavour profile with a bit citrus at the end. No alcohol detected.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Solid brew here with big sweet flavors balanced out by light spices. Pears, peaches, apples, candi sugar notes, honey. I like it.
