My general experence with Beligain style beers brewed across the atlantic has been medium to down right bad (Cooperstown’s attempt was a frightening experience). This is something else. Truly a class of its own. I would recommend this to anyone - even Mom!
I wish I lived closer to the Source.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 27, 2006 Pours a cloudy golden color with a frothy off-white head. Spicy, tart aroma reminded me of a lambik on first whiff. This beer definitely has an alcoholic kick to it. The palate is outstanding. Seems lighter than average for an abbey ale. winkle (453), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2006 From a stubbie. Poured a bright gold, with plenty of floating debris, generous carbonation and a big densely packed head. The yeasty nose features pepper and cirtis notes with a generous helping of alcohol. Pleasant enough stuff to drink - cotton candy, pepper, lemon peel and some malt with a light alcohol finish. My only beef is that there seems to be a lack of body and the finish is not very complex. Not bad although I think I prefer La fin du monde. henrikb (1303), Aarhus, Denmark

Great beer, mooooore! FlacoAlto (2473), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2006 This beer pours a hazy, yellow gold color. It is well carbonated and forms an initial, three-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The head has some staying power to it as it lingers for quite some time, and even leaves some lacing patterns on the side of the glass. The aroma is fruity (pear and apple are apparent with a mix of tart, yet fragrant notes, and a touch of sweetness), yeasty with a bready note, and with some spiciness as well (I get notes of ginger, white pepper and lemon zest). Underneath these notes is a dry, biscuit like malt character, which serves to further round out the aroma.
The taste is definitely fruity as well, with an apparent sweetness up front, but in actuality I think that the beer is quite dry. There is a nice spiciness here as well; the beer is fresh and vibrant with notes of lemon zest, ginger, pepper and clove. The finish has an astringent, yeasty note and a solid bitterness, which are both joined by a touch of alcohol. There is a light acidity here, which plays up a fruity pear note. The beer is light and effervescent on the palate; it is just quite easy to drink. There is quite a bit of malt character as well; I get notes of biscuits and a rich, yet simple malt character.
This beer is quite good, I really like how it has a light, easy drinking, yet still rich character to it. It has lots of elements of a perfect Tripel. Something seems to be missing here in the end though, it seems to be missing a little bit of richness and complexity that the best examples have. It is quite enjoyable though, and I certainly recommend it.
