FOAMer (37), Bartlesville, Oklahoma, USA Sep 7, 2004 Strong fruity flavors and aromas, apple, pear. Light hint of oxidation in the aroma add some complexity to the beer, but does not distract from it. I suspect this is due to handling by the merchants. Alcohol is present in the aroma and flavor. Although very slight, there is some hop flavor and bitterness in this beer, but only enough for balance. I am not sure if these are noble or not, although that is what I suspect. Some pepper tones in the flavor, meduim mouthfeel with a high carbonation. Deep golden color, very little haze with a quick dropping head, due to the alcohol content. Overall a nice example of a Tripel. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia Sep 7, 2004 Pours hazy gold with huge lasting white head. Big fruit aroma, slight alcohol and sour apple like smell present too. Smooth full mouthfeel. Sweet though balanced very fruity flavour. Spice & citrus in aftertaste. Nice. dornoy (678), Lyngby, Denmark Sep 5, 2004 Nice foam, not much aroma, and the taste is a bit sour. If I have to match it with food, I’d say it would fiit well with some strong cheese. As a "standalone" beer, though, I must admit it is less than the "blessed water" the name indicates. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 4, 2004 Bottle. Light hazy Yellow pour. Lots of coriander in aroma. Crisp taste, but lacking in any great characteristics to make it stand out form the 12 pack. Hides the alcohol well though. OK. pootzboy (1035), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2004 Pint bottle from the variety 12 pack....poured a hazy cloudy straw color...1 finger frothy cap that goes to a ring....sweet alcohol phenols and some musty raisin in the nose....medium carbonation...stays lively in the glass. Starts very peppery frpm the carbonation malts have a raisin bread effect finishes up faster than other strong U-brews....alcohol poorly hidden in the finish it dominates the tongue..fruity, honey tones and a warm peppery boozyness. call me nutz but there ar too many U-brews whith the same signature tates. bluevegie (2169), Perth, Australia Aug 19, 2004 Slightly hazy pale yellow body with a medium size white head. Aroma of citrus and soft spice. Taste is a little lacking, slight lemon, some zest and the alcohol is well hidden. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 25, 2004 Cloudy golden color with a huge white head, nice lacing. Interesting aroma of citrus, spices and yeast. Mild flavor of citrus and probably yeast. Light body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Lacks complexity and character. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jul 25, 2004 Cloudy gold with a thin head. Aromas are light and spicy with some citrus. Flavours are candy, sugar, fruit, yeast and spice. Its all very mild and lacks depth. Not much alcohol is evident. The first Unibroue that I didn’t enjoy much.
