Delicious smells of fresh apple, some spices, and yeast. Brew pours cloudy golden with an initialy large egg white head that is modestly retained. Flavor is multi-layered and starts out sedately. Then the flavor begin to open up middle is the fresh apples of the nose the finish is spicy/peppery. Very good beer. frylock (1024), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 15, 2003 750 ml. corked & caged bottle. Expired on 10.12.02, so it's 13 months out of date. Let's see how it stacks up. Poured out a brilliant golden yellow color, with not much head to speak of. Aromas mostly of lemons, so I believe this bottle has gone south on me. Not much in the way of hop aromas here. I can't really smell anything but lemons, and maybe canned pears in heavy syrup. Tasted ok, but nothing special. Maybe I'll try another one if I can find it fresher. maltdog (514), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 9, 2003 Slightly hazy, traffic light amber with a frothy head. Aroma is sharp and spicy, cashews, sea spray, maybe buckwheat honey. The taste is also spicy, zesty sourdough bread, damp earth, and a quick flash of bitterness. Well-carbonated even after head collapses. Dry finish with peppery alcohol burn. Interesting, but I wouldn't buy another. MaBeer1972 (421), Leominster, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 7, 2003 Glowing orange-copper brew with no head out of the bottle (dated 04-04-04). Carbonation is minimal. The alcohol dominates the aroma and flavor. There seems to be something interesting going on underneath, but I just can seem to get to it. Too bad. I expect better from these guys! NOTE: Livened up a tad after pouring into another glass, agitating it a bit. Suttree (2708), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2003 Updated: Nov 6, 2003Cloudy Orange, with a densly carbonated head that shrinks down to a nice sized foam island in my chalice. Smells of pears, oak, and...alcohol. . Woodsy hops up front and alcohol dominates the finish, with some subtle notes in the background - black pepper, some very restrained sweetness, and may be some breadiness. Not bad, but I wish the alcohol were better hidden. skortila (2903), Bunnik, Netherlands
