3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and spices and herbs, but I can’t pick out the ingrediens. The flavor is sweet malty and very spicy, combined with notes of oranges, caramel, and hints of alcohol. The mouthfeel is quite carbonated.

Bottled. Dark amber colour, not much head. Plum, glue and alcohol in nose. Flavour is semiroasted, strongly caramellish and syrupy. Dark fruits and sugar also noteable. Wellbalanced and pleasant to drink.

Dark chestnut ciolor. Very mature aroma, oxydized malt, but almost fruity too, sweet, candy-like. Good mouthfeel, with an interesting oxydized malt flavor and caramel; bitterness almost absent, warming alcohol; it can become cloying. Peculiar.

Cloudy dark brown color; creamy head. Strong aroma, with malt, caramel, toffee, some fruitness and light cork; it shows a primordial complexity. The body is thin in the beginning, quite simple flavor (basically caramel supported by some sweetness) and the final is too much biting (alcohol) with some off-flavors; it also has a very light sourness, quite rare in the Unibroue beers. Much better when warm.
I expected more.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2010 Bottle, 75cl corked, thx to thewolf. Pours an almost clear, brown body with a dense beige head. Sweetish nose with caramel, dried fruits and some alcohol. Dried fruits starts the aroma, with sugary sweetness, maltyness, roasted malt, caramel and a little touch of cellar following. Considering the age of the bottle, the cellar flavor is probably due to that. It has an effervescent, warming full-bodied mouthfeel and a flavor with cellar, sweetness and some canned fruits. Pleasant beer, quite a lot better than its older brother, but I find it better when fresher. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. 080301
Bottled at RBESG-06, GTN. Reddish-brown, unclear beer with a beige head. Raisins, prunes, spices, roasted malt, baked apples and alcohol in the aroma and flavor. The flavor has a bit more spicyness though. Full-bodied beer with some alcohol in the finish. Lovely. Rating: 8-5-8-4-16-4.1. 060826
Bottle, 75cl corked. An almost clear beer, dark brown color, and a small, off-white head on the top. Celler, dried fruits and some spices in the aroma, a faint roasted note too. The flavor is on the malty side, with dried fruits, cellar and some roasted notes, a little spice touch and bitterness too. Full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Bitter and sweet finish. After years, still a really nice beer. 091230
