pumpkinhead2 (409) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 3, 2014

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Firestone pint glass From: Albertson’s in Alpine, Calif. Price: $1.67 ($9.99 for a mix 6-pack) Purchased: Sept. 30, 2014 Consumed: Sept. 30, 2014 Misc.: Bottled on July 14, 2013 at 11:21 a.m. in Quebec (that’s if I deciphered the codes on the bottle right); Gold foil on cap/neck Poured a golden, pale, clear color with 5-to-6 fingers of rocky white head. Tons of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Minimal lacing along the sides of the glass. Good-to-above average retention on the top of the glass all the way down. (Sight - 3.83) Smelled apple juice from pretty far way. Also caramel, green apple, caramel apple, light cider, kiwi, green grapes, foamy corn and bubblegum. (Smell - 3.78) Tasted pretty close to the nose, but not quite as good. Got green apple, apple juice, caramel apple, toffee, caramel apple, green grapes, kiwi, cold cider, sweet sugary Belgian notes, bubblegum and light Sweet Tarts. (Taste - 3.40) Light body. Oily-to-thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, fruity finish. Refreshing though. (Feel - 3.43) I had high hopes for this one because everything I’ve had of Unibroue has been excellent, but this didn’t quite do it for me. Decent for summer though. (Overall - 3.45) 3.51 80 B-

plaugher (202) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - SEP 24, 2014
Pours a hazy straw yellow with fluffy white head. Nose of apple and spice, with a sweet, cider-like flavour. Light on the palate. Not too bad, but not my cup of tea.

Apple, banana, spice, and bubblegum in the aroma. Flavor is sweet and fruity, but with some underlying bready malt. Tart apple finish. Halfway between a beer and a hard cider, and definitely better than the low-end ciders. With that said, if I wanted an apple beverage out of Quebec I’d spend the extra $$$ and get an ice cider.

akoeninger (489) - Wisconsin, USA - SEP 15, 2014
Cloudy yellow with white head that stays around for the duration. Green apple dominates nose and flavor. More complex fruit flavor as well. Sweet and slightly tart like wine or champaign. Waxy mouth feel light body. Good dessert beer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Gold. Fizzy, apple cider aroma. Very bubbly. Smells sweet but also alcohol. Sour bite with bubbly spicy mouthfeel. Some waxy. like a cider. Not my style, but decent.

Bottle pour. Cloudy golden with small white head. Green apple and light wheat aroma. Light body. Slight tart apple taste. Not too sour or sweet.

UXO (402) - CANADA - AUG 26, 2014
Pours clear straw yellow with a fat finger of frothy white head diminishing gradually to a thin cap and no lacing. Nose is green apple with a faint yeasty base, perhaps a hint of wheat and coriander. Taste is green apple and bready malt with a little citrus. Light body, moderate sustained carbonation, and a short, sweet, crisp finish. Light and refreshing, mildly tart and not too sweet. Cider comparisons are obvious but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. A good summer patio beer.

Vestlake (144) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - JUL 29, 2014
Pours a hazy orange with a huge white head. Aroma is strong apple, almost champagne-like. The taste is kind of like a sweet white ale up front and apple cider on the finish. I thought from the smell that this was going to be way to sweet, but the combination works. If you’re in the mood for a fruit beer, this is a good one.
