Bottle. Pours a hazy orange-red. Aroma of blackcurrant and what. Taste is tart and dry. A good beer but nothing too exciting. Not near as good as Unibroue’s other offerings.

750mL bottle. Poured an eerie shade of peachy medium orange with a tall off-white head. The aroma picked up orange peel, vinous notes, and darker, concentrated currant juice.. wheaty notes and a touch of banana-ey yeast around the nose.. very fruity. The flavor found dry, toasted wheat and light bready notes at the core.. tart currants, orange zest, wheat, and banana and peppery yeast around.. dry, tart, quick, fruity finish. Light-medium bodied with too much carbonation on the palate (for my liking).. tangy the whole way through.. decent use of the fruit, but this moved too quickly through the mouth.

Bomber. Pours pinkish orange with a voluminous light pink head that leaves no lacing. Aroma is mostly black currant with faint citrus and wheat notes. One note, but nice. Flavor is more balanced. Lots of black currant, some orange, a bit of clove, coriander, pepper, and wheat. The flavor opens up as the beer warms. Light mouthfeel. Early on, highly effervescent carbonation. The black currant is a nice twist, but there’s not really quite enough else going on with this beer. Enjoyed it though.

Tap at Dexters. Unfiltered orange-red. Thin white head rims the glass. Some dry, mineral pit tastes. Subtle fruity tang. Soft on the palate, medium bodied. Soft berry in the finish, but sort of unpronounced. Enjoyable and easy.

Nothing too special about this except the wacky appearance... I’ve had blackcurrant lambics before, never a regular beer. I’d take the former, really, there wasn’t much beer flavour here, even the Unibroue yeast character was surprisingly muted. Carbonation was quite high. Better than the pomme, and not too sweet. Good.

On tap at Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours cloudy orange with a thick pinkish orange head and a fruity aroma. There is a subtle grape and caramel flavor with a bitter finish.

Pours pink-orange with a pinkish white head. The aroma is wheaty with some coriander and lemongrass. The taste has an up-front cidery acidity, which fades to a spiced, wheaty and yeasty finish with minimal hops. Interesting fruit beer but not going out of the way to be intense or unique.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best by 6/22/2013. Pours hazy reddish orange color with a fluffy 2-3 finger white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some nice foamy lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of big black currant grapes, coriander, orange zest, pepper, floral, wheat, and yeast spiciness. Damn nice authentic smelling fruity aromas, with good strength and balance. Taste of orange zest, coriander, black currant, pepper, herbal, wheat, and yeast spiciness. Pretty dry on the finish; with a bit of light lingering notes of lightly tart currants, orange zest, and yeast spiciness on the finish for a short bit. Nice flavor balance and complexity; though it comes out as being weak, the aromas had me thinking it would have a bigger amount of fruit flavor. No cloying sweetness or unpleasant flavors at all. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a foamy, crisp, and smooth mouthfeel that is good. No alcohol warming noticed at all as expected for 5.5%. Extremely refreshing and easy to drink. Overall this is a very good fruit flavored white ale. Very crisp and refreshing; with a good amount of fruit flavor and complexity. Very enjoyable.

Frothmeister (546) - Ontario, CANADA - AUG 13, 2012
750ml bottle. Pours a cloudy rosy beige colour with an off-white head. Aroma is big on hibiscus tea, blackberry, black currant, dry apple cider, and Belgian yeast. The taste is bitter black currant notes from start to finish, cider notes everything associated with Belgian whites, with sour apple, and bitter fruit in the finish. I enjoyed this a lot. To my memory, the best fruit beer I’ve tried.

Tap at E9. Cloudy orange pour with a short, pinkish-white head with poor retention and leaving minimal lace. Nose is lightly fruity. Light body with moderate, fine, carbonation. Black currants, very light tartness, melon, faint citrus hops – not much going on overall, but quite refreshing in the unsweetened juice sense. Finish is short, dry and lightly fruity. There are better fruit ales out there, including several black currant ones.
