jhumphries69 (718), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2006 Updated: May 2, 2007Pours reddish(pinkish) orange, very opaque, with large white head (that does not last). Aroma isn’t very strong - some citrus, pears, some yeast and hops in the aroma, and definitely currants (cassis). Flavor is a little sweet and bready with a mild taste of currant. The finish is strangely dry with hints of tartness from currants. Mouthfeel isn’t very thick, strangely dry finish (did I mention that already?). The cassis lends a peculiar flavor to the beer - not my favorite. I think the dryness and peculiarity in the flavor are attributable to brettanomyces. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 16, 2006 Reddish amber with a frothy white head. Lightly fruity aroma that is dry and champagne like. The flavor is very light and fruity. Very good if just a touch bit sour. Airy finish that is surprisingly light and fruity. Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 7, 2006 Iwas expecting so much more from this beer, yet I walked away dissapointed. Its got only average malts and subtle taste of currents nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 5, 2006 The aroma has currents and sweet malt and a tiny bit of yeast. The appearance is what you would expect. The flavor is weak but does have currents and is bitter and sweet. The palate is thin. This is alright. snowden719 (130), USA Jul 30, 2006 Pours oragneish with a pink head. Aroma is faint sourness, black current, yeast. Flavor was incredibly weak, but a bit of black currant. Palate was overally carbonated, not much sourness but a hint. From reading the other reviews I might have gotten a bad bottle but this tasted like slightly sour seltzer water to me. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA Jul 26, 2006 From a 750ml corked bottle picked up in Bangor, Maine.
Pours a very hazy orangey-gold. Huge frothy ivory head with a tinge of purple. Very very lacy. Smells of black currant. Spicy yeast. Some faint wheat malt aroma.
Taste is dry wheat malt. Some tartly sweet black currant. Dry. Crisp mouth with a feathery stickiness in the aftertaste. A bit thin. This is nice, the best Ephemere yet. Sickboy282 (1098), San Diego, California, USA Jul 20, 2006 Pours a hazy amber/orange hue with a light pinkt tinted head. Aromas of berries, yeast and wheat. Aromas of beries, yeast and wheat. There is a light skunkiness. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 10, 2006 Bottle shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy, very bubbly, golden-orange with a large mostly-lasting white head. Nice aroma of black currant, blackberries and yeast -- one of the better smelling Éphémères. Flavour’s not as good, it’s very mild, there’s not enough flavour there yet somehow I found it a touch cloying as well. Palate’s way too carbonated, almost like a fruity soft-drink. It started off well but ultimately dissapointed.
