ehhdayton (1113), USA Apr 3, 2006 Pours a hazy pinkish orange with slight pinkish head. The aroma is of currants and the flavor is dominated by currrants. The beer has an astringint quality and finish. walter (359), Staunton, Virginia, USA Mar 17, 2006 750ml corked bottle. Hazy and glowing orange color with a hint of pink and a pink-tinged offwhite head; very pretty beer. Lots of rising carbonation, very champagne-like. Aromas of red raspberries, tart red grapes, pink grapefruit, wheat malt, some sour citrus fruit, and something herbal or flowery, like rose hips. Flavor is very fruit-forward, focusing on a tart red raspberry and grapefruit mixture, with a well-balanced malt presence throughout and a bit of yeast bite in the finish. Peppery carbonation and a pleasant sourness throughout, this was quite a treat! Very well done. ivan9856 (128), Arlington, Virginia, USA Mar 16, 2006 I sampled a corked and caged 750 ml bottle labeled “Best Before 1-26-07.” The body is cloudy pale amber and pink and is accompanied by an enormous, light pink head that dissolves rather quickly. Fruity grape and raspberry-like aromas dominate the nose, but like the Éphémère Apple variety, I also detect a tad of citrus rind and yeast. There also is a faint metallic scent. Palate entry is light malt sweetness, with sharp green apple and touch of lemon in the mid-palate. This ale features some lively soft-drink-like carbonation, and a lighter body and specialty flavor that are probably more appropriate for warm weather refreshment. I prefer the Éphémère Apple offering as this variety is too much like a carbonated wine cooler or soda. The lack of any discernable hop flavor also contributed to a low rating. SSSteve (2049), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Mar 13, 2006 aroma of red grape juice. pinkish peach color with a medium sized, fizzy, quickly diminishing, soda-like head. interesting. a good ripe red grape flavor on top of a good wheat beer, but something doesn’t mesh well. im getting some medicinal overtones at times which are quite disgusting, and other times it tastes o.k. a little sour. lame fairy on label. she looks like she’s choking herself. maybe she drank too much ephemere. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Mar 6, 2006 "ba hum bug This was plain awful. Poured a peach color with huge amounts of carbonation like pouring a soda. Aroma was wheaty with berries that was the best part of the beer. Flavor that was plain awful. berry juice and nasty something, it almost got poured down the drain. Just a plain awful beer. "
BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Mar 5, 2006 Had a pretty good beer score today. Pours grapefruit peach with a semi lively head. For as much carbonation that continues well after the pour, the head doesnt hold through. Nose is blac courant. Taste is dry with a artificial juice feel to it like a lot of these other fruit beers. Unibroue yeast are present but differ a bit due to the try mouth feel. Sweet semi tart. Still very artificial feeling and the description on the bottle doesnt help with the word "juice." Had they brewed it Quelque Chose style this line would be top notch. But still a cool fine though I would have preferred a smaller bottle than the 750 on this. In the words of the great philosopher Homer J. Simpson. I can’t believe I ate the whole thing. gallaghermurph (29), Washington DC, USA Feb 26, 2006 Pours a peach/deep pink color with a fine white head that reduces to a nice lacing. Very light on the palate with an initial wheat and light yeasty flavor - lets you know that this is, indeed, a beer - followed by distinct, yet mildly watery fruit flavors. Predominantly currant, but also a bitter apple, cherry, and peach. Finishes with an quick, mild bitterness. Drinks like a sparkling cider. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Feb 20, 2006 From a distinctive 750ml. corked Unibroue brown bottle with a freshness date on the back label, 01/19/07, poured into the proper glassware as pictured on back label. Made a good appearance, poured a clear pink champagne color with a large fluffy white head that reduced to a thin lacing. Had a sweet fruity aroma, more of a wine/champagne aroma than a beer aroma, with a little musty yeastiness. Good carbonation and a slick, crisp light bodied mouth feel, also had a little champagne quality to the mouth feel. above average drinkability. Had a sweet, tart fruity taste, a little spiciness and a dry, crisp finish.
