Brodie (540), Blowing Rock, North Carolina, USA Oct 5, 2005 Fruity aroma - dark berries and cherries (I guess that’s what currants smell like) with a light spiciness. Hazy orange-amber with pink hues, big, frothy off-white-with-a-hint-of-pink head. Nice fruity Belgian flavor up from, slightly tart, but finishes watery. Medium-light body, high carbonation. Definitely not a bad summer beer, flavors are light and crisp, but there is enough going on to keep it interesting. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA Oct 5, 2005 Bottle @ the weekly RB Poker Gathering Pinkish orange hue, thin head and no lacing. Nose of peach, currants (who would have thought?) and tart sweetness. The flavor is rich and sweet, crispy, fruity but watery. Finishes light and crisp, not bad. Nel (180), Virginia, USA Sep 28, 2005 a pretty good fruit beer from unibroue. Not as good as the normal ephemere though. Reddish hue in the color. Lots of head. Fruits and some sour notes in the taste. A little bit thin for my taste, but all in all pretty solid. igneous1 (1374), Davenport, Iowa, USA Sep 27, 2005 color is reddish/orange, very huge overflowing head. aroma is berry-like, and currant as advertised. very fruity with lots of yeast in the background. flavor is raspberry, tart, wheat, somewhat airy and metallic in the finish. pretty good. Cable (286), SE, Oklahoma, USA Sep 25, 2005 Sampled on draft, Patton Alley Pub, Springfield, MO. Pours a cloudy, orange-amber in color with a minimal white head and intricate lacing. L’Ephemere’s aroma is tart with berries. Reminds me of the blue Tear Jerker gum! Nicely bitter and dominated by currant/berry with a wheat malt tartness up front and a hard-candy sweetness in the middle. Finishes clean. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated. A unique and refreshing beer. walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Sep 9, 2005 from the bottle. poured a pink peach with a big white head. flavor black currents and a nice sweetness with other berry fruits and some sourness. flavor was kind of wine cooler with the champagne fizzs with the black currents and raspberries. has nice bite to it from the carbonation bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Aug 28, 2005 Bottle. Hazy pink with a big light pink head. Nice currant aroma. Currant and wheat flavor. Crisp, fruity, refreshing, but a big wheat bite. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Aug 25, 2005 Light, almost peach colored head. The body is dark orange with copious amounts of bubbles. The aroma is rich with blueberries and raspberries. Honestly, I have never smelled a currant by itself. There is also a hint of rich bread. The taste is drier than I expected. It has a hint of champagne with some grape juice. There is also some light toasted bread crust. This is light and dry, a good aperitif. Not my thing, but if you enjoy dry sparkling white wines, you might enjoy it.
