papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA May 28, 2005 Cloudy peach amber with a generous fluffy off white head. Aroma is tart and fruity. Flavor is fruity, wheaty, tart grape and berries. Dry, wine like. Palate is tangy and lively like champange.. VA Homebrewer (525), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA May 20, 2005 Beautiful and unique orange-pink color with a pink-hued head. Very sweet grape/cherry aroma as if overly sweet artificial fruit juice were used in this brew. Highly carbonated and prickly, flavors mirror aroma. Nearly cloying, artificial fruit juice flavors overpowing the dry, light, mildly yeasty backbone. Gave it a shot, but this really never convinced me. Wife enjoyed it though. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA May 17, 2005 Hazy, dull rosy-peach color and a white head with a pink tone. Nicely appealing fruity nose with some yeasty depth. Fruity, wheaty flavor. Medium tart and fairly dry. I’d like to revisit this solid beer.
ericnixon (719), Northampton, Massachusetts, USA May 16, 2005 Bottle. Cloudy peach color with a dark grapey aroma. Mild fizzy mouthfeel with not a whole lot of taste. Yeah, there’s some mild and dry grape taste, but it’s faint (oh so faint). Yet another example of how incredibly overrated Unibroue’s barely average beers are. csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA May 15, 2005 Served in a unibroue goblet @ the hopleaf. Pours orange (dark bar) with a white head. The aroma is tart berries. The berries are sweetish, fragrant, and perfumy. The flavor is mildly tart berry followed by a softness and some ale fruitiness. The finish is semi-tart berries. Moderately full body. Exceptional for the style. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 11, 2005 Beautiful pale peach color, massive head, thick and fluffy, slow to diminish...very likeable.
Enticing aromatics! It’s a subtle mix of currant, a whiff of peach and apricot, all abetted by wheaty characteristics. A delicate fruit blend, and delicious.
Taste: a brisk bite at the front, tart for a touch, a blast of cool berry and grape, then all is mellow...very light currant flavor, more dainty than I expected...thought I had a wallop coming my way, but it’s a dainty little dance on the tongue. Medium to light in body, tasty, tangy mouthfeel, softly evaporating finish...very nice. a sophisticated sipper, a sublime substitute for dessert when chocolates and such are not appropriate. Chill and share with the significant other for a romantic evening...
I really, for some reason, expected a humdinger in this bottle, a slap-yo’mama kind of "Belgian beer"...not what they present, and who gives a darn, it’s gorgeous just the way it is...sumptuous, serene...divine...
Tmoney99 (4652), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 9, 2005 Draft. Refreshing summer fruit beer. Cloudy wheat style brew with a friuty aroma and flavor. Long complex finish. Good brew. RAYBOY01 (1812), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 7, 2005 Updated: May 14, 2005Nice wheaty sourness balances the sweet hints of apple/black currant grapes/raspberry. I really enjoy the spritzy effervescence and light breezy refreshing finish.
