hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jul 30, 2009 Pours a rhubarb colour with a light pink head. The head grows long after the pour and retains for a good 5 minutes. The aroma is a little sour and yeasty. Black current dominates the nose with a hint of other red berries and that distinctive Unibroue yeast. It tastes tart with lemon and cassis on palate. The finish is dry and yeasty. Mouth feel is great... But I just don’t like fruit beer. Blaze312 (129), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Jul 20, 2009 22oz Bottle. Pours a peach color with a thick white head that slowly dissipates leaving just a small residue at the top of the glass. Smells of hops with some hints of the black currant as well. Taste slightly weak at first then grows into a sweet/sour finish. Eructoblaster (1477), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 11, 2009 On tap at l’Autre Oeil, Gatineau. Hazy peach body with a thick, lasting pink foamy head. Nice malty/hoppy aroma with black currant, spicy and yeasty hints. Taste is a bit thin. However, it is refreshing and well balanced. I suspect the use of flavoured syrup rather than real fruits. Ends with a decent sweet/sour finish. Enjoyable summer beer. RHeastings (380), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 29, 2009 Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a tulip glass. The beer pours a nice medium golden color, with a slight white head. Notes of grapes and a bit of tartness (if one could note that as a smell) come through in nose. The aromas are astounding, and easily the best facet of the beer. The palate is less overwhelming, and leave the drinker a little bit wanting. There is a note of fruitiness, but it is less pronounced than the nose, and seems a little bit artificial. Overall, a great fruit beer, but one that needs just a touch more currants. garthicus (1216), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 22, 2009 On tap. Appearance: Beautiful ruby pink with a small pink head. Aroma: Pure blackcurrant with a lovely yeastiness to it too. Flavour: Big glass of yeasty blackcurrant. Very nice, very refreshing. Lovely. oteyj (716), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jun 16, 2009 hazy grapefruit pout with excellent pink head. Tons of froth and beautiful lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, cranberry, black currants, and an overall feeling of vinous fruitiness. Flavor is of sweet fruit notes with an excellent yeast backbone. Currant and citrus dominate with clove and banana providing great balance. Palate is a bit on the thin side, leaving a wet crisp finish. Very interesting. craftycarl21 (513), South Hero, Vermont, USA Jun 16, 2009 Epic pour- hazy grapefruit coloration with a monstrous light pink head. Aroma is extremely fruity- definitely get the current grapes in the smell. Flavor is very similar, with a great grape flavor, and there’s some of the Unibroue spicy yeast, along with a nice dry finish. Thinnish palate, but really quite nice and very drinkable- could absolutely demolish a bottle of this stuff. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jun 11, 2009 I finally get to try this beer!
Ruby red pour, aroma of cherry jolly ranchers, and slight yeast. THe typical unibroue yeast comes through, but is lost in the slightly artificial juice flavor of the cassis. Not bad, but not great.
