Bouteille brune, 750 ml, échantillon pris avec Louise, Dum, Lubière et CapFlu et en l’honneur de CapFlu qui s’en va en C.-B.; oeil : ambré, matières en suspension, pas d’effervescence, légèrement voilée; nez : cidre, carton, malt (grain), vin blanc sec, oxydation; bouche : mince, caramel, miel, un peu de pomme, légère amertume, quand même un peu carbonatée, finale en oxydation Lubiere (3146), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2006 Lightly hazed golden ale with no head, some reamining carbonatation (after 8 yrs!). Aroma of apples, sweet oxidized malt, and a light white wine. In mouth, time shows. Sweet oxidized malts, with cider qualities, caramel. Some bitterness left (maybe from cork is the theory). A bit lifeless and weak, but still a rare treat. Merci au Duminator! C’était pour une bonne cause. CapFlu (3247), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 26, 2006 (750ml bottle) Vintage 1998. The thrill to be offered to set our lips on this famously-elusive mild Belgian Ale. So many thanks to DumDum for sharing! Sampled with Lubiere, DumDum, Sylvain and Louise. Pours a white head that settles thinly to the edge of the glass atop a light golden body. Nose of apples and white wine. Flavour is watery smooth with a fine malt base. Obviously past its prime yet far better than the capped Sans Nom and Marie-Clarisse I tasted of this early Unibroue era. Oxidized but tastes good for a 6.2%, 8 year old caged & corked beer. Thanks so many times DumDum for the opportunity to taste a piece of Quebec history!
