COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
(Brewed for the "Metro" supermarket chain); In an abbey great and towery, lived brothers talented in brewery. Ale this heavenly, alas!, led to drinkery...and now its rediscovery! Can you resist temptation?

Irresistible? Yes. Brown pour with a huge amount of carbonation. Not much as far as flavors go. Not what I expected, there isn't the roastiness of a brown or the dark fruit and spiciness of a belgian. Kind of stuck somewhere in limbo.

Dark wood brown color with a small head. A sweet cherry, plum aroma. Mainly a yeast taste that is lacking character.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2005 Subdued fruit and yeast in the dough-like aroma with some notes of wood. Opaque brown body with tan coloured head that diminishes to ring. Sweet toffee, bread, plums and raisins in the flavour. Medium body with smooth mouthfeel, thankfully not over-carbonated like it’s lighter twin and certainly far more enjoyable although comparisons to Trois Pistoles are somewhat stretched. Bottle.

I like the nose here; there's a slightly different nature to the yeast, perhaps not as sweet/spicy and more wet clay and burnt bark type stuff. I did not find it too sweet; but somewhat typical Unib house character yes, spritzy and a bit dry, malty but cut by yeast. Aftertaste lingers in a fake slightly saccarine way. Still, I like it and it was a good one to receive from radiomgb.

Hazy dark brown, some red. Light tan, fizzy head. Yeasty, dark fruit and a light yeastiness in the nose. Light yeast, touch of fruit, dry. Uninteresting ale, dissappointment, mainstream crap?

Dark reddish brown. Light beige head. Light, yeasty, malty, peppery aroma. Spritzy feel. Yeasty, peppery flavour w/ toffee, caramel & a slight sourness. Unibroue house character evident.

I was hoping for a little brother to Trois-Pistoles, but instead got something far more resistable. Dark brown, with little yeast in suspension. Toast, caramel and sulphur on the nose. High carbonation. Toffeeish note with raisin. Sweetish, and tastes yeastier than it looks.

Dark amber colour with a dense light tan head. Aroma of a bit of smoke, fruits and malt. Medium-bodied; Strong carbonation, mild taste. A bit of malt, but not much! Overall, a decent beer but I was expecting more! I sampled this beer at Joey_Capps' on 13-September-2003 in Hamilton, Ontario.
