3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2015 12 oz bottle dated "best before" 7 Sept., 2012 (from notes).
Pours with a white head. Plenty of sediment in the bottle, much of which remains despite a light swirl mid-pour, but some of which comes out at the end of the pour tainting (aesthetically) the center of the white head. Head has excellent duration but leaves little lacing. Liquid is a cloudy yellow-gold.
Mainly fruity yeast and (apparent) spices in the aroma, with a touch of hops and hints of apples, bananas and pears. The taste is also quite yeasty-fruity, with hints of apples and apricots, and even some dark fruits. The high ABV is very well hidden in both the aroma (until it warms up) and the taste. Seems like there is more flavor in the finish than earlier on. Lightly tart.
M: refined, champagne-like feel, although with more body.
O: not my favorite style, but quite enjoyable nonetheless. I can easily see others giving this a very high rating. Flavorful and refreshing, but better as a slow sipper than as a session brew. Complex aroma and flavor.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle pour into tulip. Hazy yellow with generous head. Quite carbonated. Initially tastes like any Belgian ale, but with a lot of complexities and subtleties to it; I get spiced apple, pear, banana, and peach out of it. Finishes with more spice and some sweetness. Quite good...and Iím not normally a fan of trippels!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip today. I canít read the best by date. A: Orange, lemon, and banana. It smells like a hef with spices. A: 3 finger fluffy head with an easy pour. Cloudy orange body with bubbles streaming up. T: Orange, lemon zest, peach, and cloves dominate. Egg yolk and almost a cinnamon back end are subtle. P: Creamy smooth with a crisp finish. Thick mouthfeel. O: The flavors are so complex and well balanced that itís hard to pick apart. Itís on the sweet side, but balanced by spices on the finish. I hate tripels, but this is awesome.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from December, 2013 - Pours hazy golden body with somewhat orange hue. Massive white head, great retention. Initial aroma of fresh apples, spices, particularly cloves, and banana. Scents of yeast and raisins are layered throughout. Fruity flavors of pear and apple combined with herbaceous, doughy bread taste. Solid carbonation as evidenced by the relentless upward stream of bubbles and prickly mouthfeel. Dry, slightly bitter finish; however, there is an enduring, honey-sweet aftertaste. Alcohol definitely becomes more pronounced as it warms.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
BBD 10/1/17. Pours a hazy gold with a touch of amber. World class head volume and retention, outstanding lacing.
Classic tripel nose with a bit of clove and subtle sweet fruit notes.
Medium body with a bit of creaminess. Nicely carbonated with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly rush in the finish.
The flavor profile is intense, somewhat complex and somewhat balanced. It begins with some fruit flavors that are quickly overcome by phenolic clove. Phenolic clove dominates from almost the start. The middle brings a bit of malt sweetness but never achieves balance. The somewhat dry finish has a medicinal clove characteristic that lingers. Alcohol also shows a bit of astringency as an aftertaste as it warms.

Draft. Glad to finally rate this after having it several times before. Nice straw/gold with a solid white head. Grainy with lots of fruit notes throughout, specifically a juicy pear and apricot thing happening. Very full body. I really enjoy this beer.

Have had this several times. Golden brew, with a large head. No taste of alcohol outside of the warming portion. Semi-sweet, a bit of spice, super well balanced. My personal favorite brew so far and it has been for a good while.
