3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy orange body, medium persistent off-white head. Crackery aroma, spicy, with a touch of light fruit (white grape). Yeast-dominated flavor with breads, spice, and light fruit (again, white grape) finishing with a quick tart bite followed by the long yeast aftertaste. Pepper, cloves, and crackers are all here in classic Tripel fashion, but I like sweeter, fruitier examples.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2005 Plenty of action here. I seem to have had a new taste experience with every swallow but mostly I was reminded of bananas. You donít really taste the alcohol but I definately felt it when standing up. The most fun Iíve had with a bottle of beer in a long time.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours with a white foamy head, pale gold with orange hints. The aroma is Belgian, sweet and spicy (cardamom and ginger) and also some vanilla (?). The flavor is sweet with banana and apricot. Lite spice presence. A bit sticky and long lingering. Just when it seems it might get to syrupy a very bright mineral fruit appears on the edges of my tongue and makes the finish a cleaner tasting treat.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Gold, clear, OK head (but not by Belgian standards). Fairly low carbonation for a Belgian too. Typical Unibroue aroma with some nutmeg and vanilla. Vinous, dry flavour, kinda like a very dry version of cask fruity lexia (itís makes ya sexier donít you know). Quite heady alcohol character too. Itís certainly not the beer I recall really impressing me about five years back, though in fairness my palate would also have developed a heap too.

If this is what the end of the world is like, I say, "Bring on Armageddon." Heavenly concotion, one I plan to be drinking during the Endtimes, should the occasion arrive during my lifetime.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pours pale yellow, almost witbier like, hazy, quite carbonated, large bubbley white head, with spotty lacing.   Zesty aroma, spicy, floral sweetness, with bit of light fruit like zing.   Minor whisps of alcohol.   Citrus peel or corriander based flavor on first sip.   Cloves as well.   Zesty and spicy, quite tasty.   Full body, medium but spritzy mouthfeel.   Finishes with lingering spices.   Very zesty, and very delicious!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUN 8, 2014 8/2011. I have been drinking this beer regularly since 2001. It is one of my staples and my beer fridge is never without a couple of bottles of this one. Even before my all consuming passion for good beer took hold I was drinking this one and their Trois Pistoles. To me this is one of the shining examples of the majesty that is the Tripel style. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this fine brew pours an opaque bright orange color with a large white head. The aroma is strong and has a strong yeasty element and notes of pear, apples and spice. The mouthfeel is thick and the flavor is strong with sweetness. There are strong yeasty tastes and ripe fruit - pear, apple and maybe a hint of apricot. There is a mild dry spicy finish that is stark contrast to the sweet beginning and middle. The 9% alcohol is well hidden in this beer. In short this is a fabulous beer and one of my dear favorites.
