fruity, clove, orange and yeasty, and peach. clear golden color with a dense white head. spritzy orangy, peppery, apple and bubblegum. alcohol pepperiness and heat, but not overly alcoholic tasting. maybe a little overcarbonated for a trippel. more like a saison than a tripple.

Well, think I may well have tossed my original rating in a fit of frustration over my kumputter locking up.(perhaps it’s playing the xenophobe, as I was making kind statements about Canada) Nice beer, this. Peppery for sure and with other elusive (to me) spices. Very flavorful and complex.

The choices were Budweiser, Yuengling Porter or La Fin Du Monde at my brother’s house. Obviously I went with the Unibroue. This is a cloudy golden bodied strong Belgian Ale with a light head and a yeasty aroma. Initial taste is smooth finished with a zesty bite. Very enjoyable strong ale.

bottled barley beer festival III: this poured hazy yellow with a small white head that was gone pretty quick. nose was banana wheat. taste more of a wheat...saison feel. good full bodied beer. alcohol was well hidden. there was a hot chick drinking this stuff at the booth and she was ethrolled with the fact that it was 9% but you couldnt tell. ’easier to get drunk without peeing so much’ she said. maybe this is the reason for drinking higher alcohol beers...?

Bottle: Poured a golden beer with a huge bubbly head with average retention. Aroma is a mix between something sweet which might be candi sugar and wheat. Taste is very refreshing with again a nice mix of candi sugar, wheat and something a bit spicier, which I cannot identify. Body if medium with great carbonation. I truly love this beer even after more then ten years of drinking it. Must be commanded just for helping discovered the fabulous world of beer.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2006 Pours a cloudy yellow body, with a medium sized fizzy head. Aromas are herbal and fruity, with most of the aroma being the latter. Taste is fruity (citrus) with some subtle spicy notes. Some malt sweetness as well. Leaves a bit of a fruity aftertaste, which only left me wanting more. Cool bottle as always with Unibroue. 9% alcohol? Can’t tell. Well done.

This had some good mixes of spices, herbs and fruit. Sure looks good following the pour. To me it was a bit sweet and the alcohol was definitely present in the tasting.

This is a magnificent beer and shows that new world beers can certainly match and exceed old world beers (ir Belgium)in a similar way that Australian Wine has kicked ass over the French. This is a standout beer that has great estery/banana flavours and could easily be the best beer that i have had made outside Belgium. It certainly tastes a lot cleaner than some of the Belgium beers out there today.

Pours with a thick head that collapses fast. Nice blonde color with some carbonation. Interesting aroma of banana and citrus. Mild bitterness followed by a sweet citrus flavor. Maybe some pepper or spicy notes also. Very smooth and enjoyable.
