"The end of the world. The excellence of triple fermentation through a blend of special yeasts gives this malt beverage an exquisitely robust flavor of exceptional refinement."

I thought that this was an excellent example of the style. Pours with a bright gold color and has slow bubbles. There is a large white head that turns to a small head with time. The aroma is peaches, oranges and ginger. After this warms up I also smell carrots. The taste is peaches and cinnamon. Has a spicy ginger finish. The carbonation is soft in the mouth. This is my favorite Unibroue.

This 9% ABV offering from Unibroue distinguishes itself from its comrades (Trois pistoles and La Maudite) in that it is a thinner more tart traditional Belgian strong beers . It also has no less of the "warming" effect to it than these other heftier Unibroue beers. Pours a slightly cloudy light gold color Aromas of spices, sweet malts and a peppery twang. Starts like a regular well made ale then sits on the palate with a medium body punctuated with spices, malts and a honey taste...the natural effervescence helps punch the hop tanginess trough near the finish which is fairly clean and smooth for a heavy beer with only a lingering pepper taste mingled with the alcohol warmth, I like this as a drinkable heavy beer. Not as filling as La Maudite or trois pistoles.

Big yeasty nose with some clove and pepper. Hefe-like banana first sip quickly fades to strong, spicy and fruity flavors. Light and flavorful. Finish has a strong alcohol burn.

Cloudy pale yellow. Golden hue. White, fluffy head. Yeasty aroma of banana & peaches w/ clove & alcohol. Light-medium feel w/ lots of carbonation. Yeasty flavour w/ lots of spice (clove, pepper) & a light nuttiness. Light alcohol & hops in the finish.

Orangish and cloudy with a nice tight white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat and some spice as well as a faint hint of alcohol. Taste is yeasty and spicey as well as some fruit such as orange and lemon. It has a nice smooth feel on the palate.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2008 Tasty. Full fluffy head. Darkish color, taste of yeast and banana. Alcohol is noted but pleasant. Some spice notes. Very good beer.8/4/7/4/16
12 oz. bottle. Deep straw colored with just a slight haze, probably would have been clear if not for the pre-agitation in my backpack. Enormous white head with a careful and gentle pour. Sheets of lacing. Aroma is pleasant, spicey, slightly earthen tone, bits of musty, herbal. Body is light with a pleasant uplifting carbonation. Taste is quite pleasant. Slightly sweetish up front, then shifting to a herbal/earthy taste. Ample bitterness balances out the finish, slightly lingering. Really a pleasant beer, well crafted. Worth the re-rate and bump up in score.

Clouded orange with huge lasting white head. Yeasty nose with citrus and hints of sharp pepper. Flavor is caramel and warming alcohol, along with malts and a complex mix of spices and fruits. Yeasty finish. Tastes as lovely, like all the Unibroue i have tasted!

Hazy light orange pour, with a fizzy, yet attractive off-white head. Fruit, yeast and somewhat peppery aroma. Taste is carbonated on the palette, and aggressive. Primarily banana and yeast along with some orange peel, fruit and spice. Alcohol is somewhat masked, but what you can taste is pleasant. Mouthfeel is smooth. Surprisingly light and airy.. so to speak...

Great dark golden colour, small head. Lots of citrus and even some bread like notes in aroma. Taste is a perfect balance of fruity notes, mostly banana and some lemon, with enough malt character to cover up the alcohol. Finish is a slight hoppiness that lingers. Good carbonation as well. A friend noted this was a stronger Blance de Chamblay, and while that is simple, I can see where he gets that. The best tasting beer at this alcohol strength that I have had.

This is one evil looking beer. Dark and crisp with a sweat aroma. Complex spice and hints of fruit makes this a desert style of beer. Try this one and enjoy.
